Meet Flower

Flower…as beautiful as her name with a smile to match?? This precious pup is as sweet as they come. Believe it or not, she found herself in a Texas kill shelter. Luckily, we had a foster who had space to take her! Flower is right around 11 months old and is hoping to spend her 1st Birthday with her new family! She currently weighs 40 lbs but we expect her to be in the 45-50 lb range as she fills out a bit more. Flower is excellent with kids and loves other dogs. She is a happy girl that enjoys to be in your company. Very affectionate and a definite snuggle bug. Overall, she is on the calmer submissive side and has a very easy going temperament. Her zoomies come out when it’s time to play, especially if there is another dog to romp around with. Easy to handle on leash and loves her walks. Minimal pulling but does like to stop here and there to explore all the new sights and smells. She is potty and crate trained. Flower is smart and eager to please. Just an “all around” awesome pup that will be a wonderful companion for the lucky family that adopts her.

While in our care Flower has been fully vetted, is up to date on vaccines and preventatives, heartworm tested, spayed and microchipped. Hobbs spent the day with the neighbors out at their grandparents farm. What a grand time he had. We can’t believe Hobbs is still available for adoption as he will make someone a great side kick and fill their lives with such joy!!! We are hoping the right family sees this boy and will want to open their hearts and home!!❤️❤️

$5 Friday – Help Us Cover Vet Bills!

It’s $5 Friday, and today we’re reaching out with an important need—vet expenses.

This past week, several of our dogs are going for their 2nd round of heartworm injections which means they are in need of 2 injections . We never want to delay or deny treatment when an animal needs help, but vet bills add up fast—and unfortunately, we don’t have dedicated funding for this and as a small rescue we are dependant on the help of our wonderful donors

That’s where you come in. With just $5, you can be part of making sure every animal gets the medical attention they deserve. Every dollar goes directly toward paying down these vet bills so we can keep doing right by the animals who count on us.

Below is Brownie who will need his final 2 injections next week so let’s get this covered and get him on to better things. We also have Aiden who will make his way to Callaghans for his injections as he just finished his doxy.

Look who is arriving at the rescue this evening!!

HOBBS!!!

Are you looking for a loving and playful best friend? Meet Hobbs! This very handsome pup is a 4-5 year old, lab/cattle dog mix. He has a unique and beautiful white coat with golden brown spots. This boy is the total package! Friendly and affectionate he hasn’t met a stranger. Hobbs LOVES to play and takes his Kong along wherever he goes. His absolute favorite activity is fetch, which goes hand in hand with one of his favorite toys….his ball! He would play fetch all day if someone is willing. That’s not to say he doesn’t love chilling and hanging with his person just as much. He is great with kids and does fine with the other dogs in his foster home but, Hobbs is not one that likes to share his toys with other canine companions, so playtime with toys is an activity to be enjoyed with his humans! He travels well in the car and would love to be your co-pilot. He walks fairly well on leash but tends to pull if he sees something that interests him….nothing major that some basic training or practice won’t take care of. Hobbs keeps his foster family smiling with his silly and fun-loving personality, but he would love to find a forever family he can bring joy to! Could that be you?

Meet Fluffy

This gorgeous boy is Fluffy! As his name implies, he is soft and fluffy and is sweet as can be! Not to mention a total Lovebug! Very friendly and always smiling, this stunning flat-coat retriever/aussie/mix absolutely adores people and will likely greet you with a little tap dance followed by a hug! . His multi-color coat is gorgeous and has beautiful, soulful brown /amber colored eyes. Fluffy is great with kids and loves to romp and play with the other doggies in his foster home. He enjoys going for walks and does well on leash overall but will pull a bit if he sees something that interests him. Fluffy loves car rides and is a wonderful co-pilot! He is always up for an adventure especially if it includes a stop at the drive through for a Pup Cup! If you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, look no further! He has mastered the art of cuddly couch potato and can’t wait to snuggle up with you! Fluffy is approximately 6 years old and weighs in at 50 #. Just an all around happy, go-lucky boy, with a great temperament, who will make a fantastic addition to most any type/size family.

***Yogi is officially adopted and doing well in his new home!!! We know there is nothing but good things ahead for him! From the streets of San Antonio Tx this boy really lucked out to find his forever home and have a wonderful life where is is loved and cared for by people who truly love him!❤️❤️

Meet Yogi

This handsome boy has the most adorable beard is as sweet and friendly as can be! Yogi is a 4-5 year old schnauzer/shepherd mix that can’t wait to be your best friend! Although he can be a bit shy and submissive at first, he quickly warms up and becomes one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet! Great with people and kids of all ages and dog friendly! Yogi is medium energy and has a mellow, easy-going, temperament. A true companion dog, he loves to be around his people and adjusts easily to new situations and experiences. Walks, car rides, dog friendly patios? Yogi is your guy! Just a wonderful all around dog that will be great addition to any size/type of family. Yogi is completely house trained and although crate trained as well, does not need to be.

Zuma now Oliver has officially been adopted and living his best life with his new mom and dad and sister. We couldn’t be more excited to know this little guy will have an amazing life full of love and attention!! Happy life Oliver!!❤️❤️

Meet Zuma! This cutie patootie is a 5-6 month Shih Tzu mix. He is a small little guy that weighs in at 12 # and we expect that he will be in the 15-16 # range whem full grown. He is looking for his forever home where he will get all the love and attention that he deserves. Zuma is a friendly little dude that will quickly become your shadow. He loves to play with toys, be your lap buddy and best friend. He loves to explore see what “trouble” he can get in. Lol He has mininal leash training but should do great with some practice and guidance. He loves kids of all ages and other dogs but has never been around cats but our guess is he will just want to play with them too! Zuma is crate and potty trained but will need patience in that area while he gets used to his new surroundings and routine.

‼️UPDATE: a huge THANK YOU to all who have donated to Kali’s surgery fund so far! Enough was raised for the deposit and Kali is at the vet and will be having her surgery tomorrow! 🚨 HELP KALI GET THE LIFE SAVING
SURGERY SHE NEEDS 🐕

‼️ Almost 10 months waiting for a surgery that never came and abandoned by the people that supposedly “SAVED” her, Kali’s foster reached out to us for HELP! 🙏

Kali(FKA Aleu), a 1.5 year old black beauty German Shepherd, had the misfortune of finding herself on the euthanasia list at San Antonio Animal Care Services Shelter in June 2023. A rescue pulled her off death row at the request of a networker who wanted to find her a forever home. Kali was extremely thin and did not appear to be thriving. Upon a visit to the veterinarian, it was discovered that Kali has a condition called Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA), a congenital disorder of the blood vessels of the heart that results in constriction of the esophagus. In order for Kali to swallow and digest her food without aspirating, she needs to be positioned in an upright position during feeding of a special soft diet. This is typically done in what’s called a Baily chair, but her foster has had to improvise by having Kali stand on her hind legs and resting her front paws on the counter while she eats. Definitely not ideal, but her foster mom has committed to seeing her through this and as a result of her efforts, Kali has gained 25 lbs.

At one and a half years of age, she is deserving of a long and healthy life. Yet in order for that to occur, Kali will require surgery to repair the blockage so her esophagus can hopefully begin to function normally. The younger she is when this surgery is performed, the better her chances that it will be successful. Without this surgery, Kali’s future remains uncertain. Sadly, the people involved in getting Kali out of the shelter have done nothing to see that she receives the medical care she so desperately needs. Kali deserves better and with everyone’s help, we are going to see to it that she gets it. 🐾 🐶

Dr. Hanson at NVC Nederland has agreed to do the surgery at a cost of $2,300 plus meds, follow up, and additional testing for a total estimate of $3,500.
