Poodle or Doodle?

No brainer… if you’re in it for health & temperament and tired of seeing so many unhealthy doodles.

People often choose a Poodle over a Doodle (like a Goldendoodle or Labradoodle) for a variety of reasons, often stemming from concerns about health, temperament predictability, and ethical breeding practices.
Here's a breakdown of the key reasons:

Health:
Poodles, as a purebred breed, are generally subject to fewer health issues than Doodle mixes. While some Doodle breeders may focus on health testing, the inherent unpredictability of mixed breeds can lead to a higher risk of inheriting health problems from both parent breeds.

Predictability:
Poodles have a well-established breed standard for temperament and appearance. This means you have a better idea of what to expect from a Poodle in terms of personality, coat type, and size. With Doodles, the combination of genes from two different breeds can lead to a wider range of outcomes, making it harder to predict the dog's traits.

Ethical Breeding:
Many Doodle breeders are not focused on health testing or breeding from high-quality purebred lines. This can lead to ethical concerns about the health and welfare of the dogs, as well as the potential for perpetuating health problems in future generations. Some doodle breeders even increase the cost $$$$ and charge more for a mixed dog making it appear valuable when in fact you’ll spend more on a mixed dog and an increase in vet bills for that dog. So bottom line, why pay more for less!

Hypoallergenic Coat:
If the goal is a non-shedding or hypoallergenic dog, a Poodle is a good option. Poodles are known for their non-shedding coats, and while some Doodles can be low-shedding or non-shedding, it's not guaranteed.

Temperament:
Poodles are known for their intelligence, trainability, and affectionate nature. They are eager to please and bond strongly with their families. While some Doodles inherit these traits, the temperament can vary depending on the mix and breeding practices.

Grooming:
Poodles require regular grooming to maintain their coat, but they don't shed. Some Doodle mixes also require significant grooming to prevent matting, while others may shed more.
Availability of Reputable Breeders:
Finding a reputable Poodle breeder is often easier than finding a reputable Doodle breeder who prioritizes health testing and ethical breeding practices.

Doodles:
If you like the look of a Doodle, a Poodle can be groomed to mimic that style.
In essence, while Doodles have gained popularity, Poodles offer a more predictable and potentially healthier option for those seeking a non-shedding, intelligent, and affectionate companion.

What does it mean and why do I have to wait to get a puppy assigned to me?

Fur babies are assigned from a litter to specific families based on their lifestyle and needs rather than first come, first served.

This means the best fit is actively chosen for each potential owner (family) rather than letting people simply pick the one they want from the litter; this ensures they go to a home where they can thrive with their new family.

Assignments are based on many important factors.

*Temperament evaluation
Breeder closely observe the puppies in a litter to assess their individual personalities and temperaments as they develop from birth until Volhard testing and this assists greatly in making the right choice.

*Matching with the future owners needs, breeder will ask potential owners about their lifestyle, activity level, experience with dogs, and family dynamic (small children, adolescent children or elderly) to find the best puppy match. Also, plans for future show prospects or special training such as Service, Therapy or Specialized Training such as Agility or Detection dogs.

Basically, the process starts with having the exact amount of reservations prior to 6 weeks of age for the entire litter with the exact amount of reservations for females & males each that make up the litter. This will assure each puppy has the correct placement with the family who is best suited for them.
