Did you know 40% of dogs and cats experience some level of pain due to Osteoarthritis (OA)?
OA is arthritis that develops when protective tissue in the joints deteriorates, leading to friction between the bones. Pain from OA can decrease your pet’s willingness to play or exercise.
Take the Pain Checklist quiz to see if they could be showing signs of OA: https://bit.ly/3Z5m7u6
If you suspect your pet may have signs of OA, please contact us so we can help them feel their very best!
MANY TERRIFIC DEALS [too many to count!] will be available in store SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th, and we look forward to seeing you and your pets!

Harnesses vs collars.
There is a great deal of medical evidence that shows that pressure on a dog’s neck from collars can be damaging to lots of different parts of their bodies. Damage can be done with even small amounts of pressure to necks, spines, the oesophagus and trachea, even eyes when the pressure exerted on their necks affects the intraocular pressure.
Harnesses also provide more control than collars. There is less chance that your dog will
slip out of its harness vs easily being able to back out of their collar.
Collars do have their place and we recommend your pet wears one for identification purposes.
The photo below is an example of the Comfort Flex Harness. This design is easy to put on your dog, provides protection to the throat and underarms and is reflective for low light situations. We now have these available in our office in lots of sizes and fun colors!
See measurement instructions in comments.
Do you know how to recognize pain in your dog or cat? 😿🐶 Some signs are more obvious, such as limping or yelping, while others are more subtle, such as increased sleeping or a change in litter box habits.
September is Animal Pain Awareness Month, which is a good time to become aware of the signs that your pet may be suffering. 👀 Be on the lookout for the following behaviors and contact your veterinarian if you think your pet is in pain. 💊 Never try to treat your pet with human medications since many are toxic to pets.

Regular blood testing is essential for monitoring your pet’s overall health. Our wellness blood panels provide valuable information about your pet’s organ function, blood cell counts, and metabolic status, crucial aspects of comprehensive pet diagnostics. These tests help us detect any underlying conditions early and tailor appropriate treatment plans. We also offer specialized testing for vitamin levels, hair & tissue analysis, allergies, gut and microbiome issues, and cancer screenings. 🐾❤️

Do you have a dog or cat suffering from a mobility issue? Are they slowing down, not jumping into your lap like they used to, or have a lameness? Or maybe they were recently diagnosed with a cranial cruciate or other soft tissue stain and sent home with nsaids and rest? Do you have an older animal that was diagnosed with arthritis and sent with a list of medications you can try for them? Did you know that there is so much more that can be done to help them?
Dr. Sara Clark is our rehabilitation and mobility specialist. She comes with 18 years of veterinary experience and is certified in Animal Chiropractic, Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy, and Veterinary Acupuncture. She has a special interest in preventative chiropractic care for agility and sporting dogs and in assisting our senior dogs to make those golden years pain free and fun.

Functional broths!
These are just a few of the EASY broth recipes🍵 you’ll find in our new book, The Forever Dog LIFE (and on sale for 50% off at almost all major retailers). This deceptively simple food provides warmth, comfort, hydration, healing, and nutrition, all in one, for a variety of your pet's needs:
🤢 Is your dog or cat experiencing nausea, reflux, gas, or just general GI upset? Try Belly-Soothing Broth. Among its ingredients are ginger root to improve GI motility, fennel to prevent GI ulcers, and cumin to stimulate digestive enzymes, plus other gut-soothing goodies.
🧠 Want to support your pet’s cognitive function? Serve up Brain-Building Broth, a salmon-based concoction infused with herbs that protect and enhance the brain.
🦠 Facing an infection or other challenge to your beloved’s immune system? Reach for Immune Broth. With the power of mushrooms plus herbs with antimicrobial and detoxifying actions, it offers a line of defense while supplying needed fluids.
🤧 Have a pup 🐶(or kitty 🐱) with histamine issues? Try the Quick and Easy Low Histamine Broth. We love traditional bone broths, but they might be out of reach for the histamine-sensitive. Ours is cooked just long enough to derive benefits, but not so long that histamine levels soar.
We have an entire section dedicated to Forever Fluids with even more recipes for broths, stews and teas! So you’re sure to find something that meets your pet’s needs!
Deep in the August frenzy we feel we need to put out a reminder for patience. We are a small, appointment only practice and are committed to providing the best care for all our patients. Please choose one method of communication and allow for 24 hours for all emails, texts and voicemails to be returned. If you need something more urgent than that, please contact your full service veterinary practice or the Flathead Pet Emergency Center. Thank you for your patience❤️

This is only Luna’ second session in the underwater treadmill and she is already a pro!Luna is working hard on rehabing her partially torn cruciate ligament. 🐾 #caninehydrotherapy
Bullet is working hard to be ready for summer fun! Bullet had surgery to repair a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) on his left stifle in March. Unfortunately he then tore his ACl on the right side and had another surgery in April. It is estimated that dogs who tear one knee have a 40-60% chance of injuring the opposite knee as well. Bullet is working in the underwater treadmill to regain strength in both knees. #caninehydrotherapy
In the realm of physical rehabilitation and injury recovery hydrotherapy has been a game changer. We are incredibly lucky to be able to offer this awesome therapy for pets in the valley. Our trained rehabilitation veterinarians build a rehab plan customized to each pets specific needs. The underwater treadmill is beneficial for post surgery rehab, physical conditioning, weight loss and degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis. -The natural buoyancy of the water assists in a low impact, but high intensity workouts. -The water is kept at a warm therapeutic temperature to loosen muscles and tendons and soothe sore joints. -Water depth can be adjusted to provide optimal resistance and help build muscle mass. -Incline is also an added bonus for strengthening. Our model Abbey is currently utilizing the treadmill for cruciate ligament disease and weight loss. She is a champ! 🐾 Do you have a hydrotherapy success story? Feel free to share in the comments! ❤️ #caninehydrotherapy #OasisPro #veterinaryrehabilitation

Furry Family Friday!! Tippy came from All Hearts Rescue (Shout out to Diane-One of the kindest hearts i know!!) in Polson. She was a tiny babe when she arrived. She fit right in and was a typical silly kitten full of love and chaos. Shes mellowed now, but still likes to rip around the house and wrestle with Grannpa Badger on a regular basis. Cardboard boxes and soft blankets are her weakness and if the mood suits her she will snuggle in for a good purr fest. Pretty little Tippy makes our family whole! ❤️🐾 #adoptdontshop #kittycat #catrescue
Join us in wishing Corona a very happy 11th birthday!! Corona is an Presa Canario and has been visiting with us for a year to treat his Osteoarthritis. He loves getting acupuncture, but most of all it’s about the treats! Thanks for being a good sport and wearing a pink tiara! 👑 🤣🐾❤️ #dogbirthday #presacanario #birthdayboy
Furry Family Friday! Badger Cat was adopted from Life Savers Rescue in Polson 10-ish years ago . He had been found living in one of the feral cat colonies and was clearly not the feral beast he dreamed of being. He settled in quickly, bossing the dogs around, wrestling with our other cat and occasionally sneaking out to spend a night in the wilds of our neighborhood. His majesty demands a continuous supply of food of his liking, heated beds and lots of petting. He drools when he's happy, chews plastic things when he's hangry, and meowls loudly in the middle of the night for unknown reasons. Badger is the epitome of domestic cats and we love him to pieces! Long live king Badger!
