There are lots of great dogs out there who lack a home just because they don't have the right pedigree. A mixed breed will likely be healthier, happier, better behaved — and live longer than a purebred of the same age.⁠

Donate to your local shelter...⁠
Not in the position to adopt? You can still help out your local shelter with a donation. Your money goes to things like food, toys and medicine. Every dollar counts!⁠

Volunteer to help out...⁠
Shelters need volunteers to befriend the dogs, play with them and take them for walks. A few hours of your time can make a big difference in their happiness and happy dogs stand a better chance of getting adopted.⁠

All dogs love us for who we are...⁠
Though mixed breed dogs aren't usually as highly regarded as their purebred cousins, they've got lots of love in their hearts. Since most mutts weren't born on Easy Street, they love us even more!⁠

Mixed breeds have better health...⁠
These dogs have hit the genetic lottery. The smaller the gene pool, the less healthy the genes. Your mutt, on the other hand, has a sampling from all over, adding to the dog's overall lifespan and well-being.⁠

Mixed breed dogs end up at a pet shelter more frequently and they tend to wait longer before getting adopted. National Mutt Day is about getting them the love and attention they deserve.⁠

Remember our little pumpkin Auggie?! He has been growing leaps and bounds over the month. Auggie has added 25lbs in one month! Giant breed dogs grow at an amazing rate. Their diet and specific care needs are different from smaller breeds. It is very important to support their rapid growth with the right diet. Exercise restrictions are also necessary to protect their rapidly growing body. Stay tuned for Auggie’s next visit!

Just got done writing up a consult where we identified a Root Chakra imbalance. Our patient has a history of being traumatized, stray, and overall lacking in stability and security. This imbalance has now manifested to subtle hind end dysfunction and stooling changes. There are several ways the owner can help to nourish this Chakra and hopefully get him feeling better.

Happy 13th Birthday to Calibash!! Bash is one of our regular senior patients that enjoys acupuncture.

November is Senior Pet Month and we have enjoyed celebrating so many senior birthdays lately. Seniors require unique and extra care with their advanced age. There are a wide range of issues that can affect our pets health. Senior Bloodwork is imperative to catching health issues early (and to monitor organ function) that may not be visible/caught during a routine physical exam.

Pets are considered senior at the ages listed.

Cats: > 8-10 years of age
Dogs > 50 pounds: > 6 years of age
Dogs < 50 pounds: > 8 years of age

Acupuncture naps are the best!

We get asked a lot if dogs like acupuncture.
As you can see Zodi loves her acupuncture (aka-spa sessions). She receives treatments to help with her degenerative joint disease. Zodi has improved greatly in her comfort and mobility.

We find that our patients all respond very well to their acupuncture treatments. Their owners even report they look forward to coming to see us! ❤️🐾
