Never in my 14 years of raising rabbits have I been bitten through a thick Carhartt chore coat AND Carhartt sweatshirt and it still broke skin.

I am thankful I was wearing so many layers, because I probably would’ve needed stitches otherwise. I do not keep mean rabbits and this is only my second time I’ve ever been bitten. This particular doe is due in a couple days, so I am hoping she’s just uncomfortable and over it. This is day three and the bruising is continuing but the marks from the teeth are going away.

I think it’s a balance, you clean out the closet before you get more clothes, right? I actually don’t do that either. I just buy more.🤣 Either way, I’m hoping to have a good selection of kits for myself this year. This may not sound like a lot of litters for many breeders. But, I limit myself to 50 holes and I have all of this breeding planned from now until April.

For the third year in a row, we helped sponsor the Sterling Sportmen’s Association Rabbit & Squirrel Hunt. We supplied rabbit meat for their rabbit soup. They had over 50 teams of 6! For the second year in a row, the boy’s team placed 2nd!

Burr! We are having a cold streak this week. The high for today was 7 degrees! We are not far from Lake Huron, so we also are getting wind. The rabbit shed is at 45 degrees tonight. We have been busy keeping the rabbits warm and happy.

Her sire was Best of Breed at the California State Fair in 2023 and placed 13th in the Sr buck class at ARBA Nationals in Louisville, KY in 2023. Dam is JLC’s Balenciaga who has 4 GC Legs and placed 8th place Jr Doe and 4th place Roaster with classes of over 60 + at Californian Nationals in 2023. This doe has only been on the show table one weekend and she won BOS giving her a leg. She would be a perfect brood doe for the spring or good addition to your show team. 😊

Auction details: This auction will take place during the Michigan 4-H State Rabbit & Cavy Show on January 25, 2025 and they will be doing a silent auction format starting at 10:00 AM!

UPDATE! War has gone to her new home! 🥰

Calling all Michigan 4h-ers! Looking for a STUNNING show rabbit to put on the table for both breed class and showmanship? Look no further because War has the BEST personality for being a 4h rabbit. She's got gorgeous type, she is easy to handle and pose, and she's small, making her the perfect fit for a young 4h-er to use in showmanship classes. She already does well at holding her pose on the table without walking off and will just get better with more handling. I could just sell this doe to another ARBA breeder but she is destined to be a 4h bunny with her sweet personality. Feel free to share!

Trying to find stuff to enter for this weekend is a struggle! I have some pretty does that don’t have the coats I’d like for the table and with double show on Friday and a triple show on Saturday, at $5 an entry, If they aren’t in coat, they aren’t going! Lol so far I have one Cal and one NZ making the cut.
