Websites for Wags

Websites for Wags We are giving homeless dogs a new leash on life by advertising with a purpose! I was devastated leaving a career that had watched me grow up. Rest easy.

I began Websites for Wags in an attempt to combine my love and career in advertising with my intense passion for dogs. After 10 years of advertising in Denver, my family and I were uprooted to Wichita Falls, Texas and then Alamogordo, New Mexico for my husband's flight training program. But that sadness grew into a motivation that has changed my life forever...

My family and I started fostering d

ogs in Wichita Falls with "Texas Pit Crew", a rescue organization dedicated to saving Pit-Bulls and other abused dogs throughout the northern Texas region. The love for fostering came naturally and I became more and more involved in volunteering each weekend with adoption events. It wasn't long until I realized there was more I could be doing to help. And so began "Furrrr-togenic", a team with the goal of photographing all of our foster dogs in bow-ties and flowers and hanker-chiefs. The photos would be posted in our database, as well as on all of the local adoption sites for potential families. My time with Texas Pit Crew was powerful, poignant and life-changing. Now that our time in Wichita Falls has come to an end, I was yet again filled with a vigorous motivation to do SOMETHING with purpose in New Mexico. Meet Websites for Wags. With 10 years of experience to back me up, I will be continuing in my career in digital advertising by creating websites, search programs, and online presences for small to medium sized businesses. With each hour that we work, we will be continuing to help dogs in need. Whether the current need is a bag of food, cleaning a shelter, bathing a stray, donating time at adoption events, or opening our home to a homeless dog in need of a foster, we are creating advertising that you can feel GOOD about. Every dime you spend not only gets you a state of the art online presence at a low price, but it gives a homeless dog a furry leg up and a new "leash" on life. Love in Pups, Mimi Toliuszis

Starting our Monday morning with an illuminating documentary, "The Firmest Friend", by our friend and pit bull advocate, Andrew Fixell. This film follows 3 homeless people in NYC who have rescued or adopted pit bulls on death row.

His goal is to change the stigma surrounding pit bulls - and to change the public's perception of homeless people. We are strong advocates for pit bulls. We have rescued two of our own and have fostered dozens.

We are so thrilled to be sharing this with you and would love to see you share this with the world. Learn more at https://www.thefirmestfriendfilm.com/.

So happy for Apollo!! Thank you to Tukwila Police Department for giving this handsome dude a chance!!

We would like to introduce you to our newest K-9 Apollo!

Apollo did not come to us through the normal route that most police K-9's do. Apollo was abandoned and sent to a shelter within the state. He stayed at the shelter for six months and was deemed to have too much energy to be considered for adoption and was about to be euthanized. Before doing so, the shelter called a Washington State narcotics K-9 trainer and asked her to take a look at Apollo to see if he was possibly a candidate for detection work. The trainer ran Apollo through some drills and thought he would indeed be a great narcotics K-9. She took Apollo out of the shelter and put him in her kennels at the Department of Corrections (DOC).

Unfortunately, Apollo had to wait another 12 months as one dog after another was selected over him by other officers who were going through narcotics school and wouldn't give him a chance. No one would give him a chance simply because he was a pit bull who often have bad reputations based on misconceptions and lack of training.

We contacted the trainer last summer while searching for a K-9 and she told us about Apollo. She stated that he was a high drive dog and he would finish first in narcotics school if someone would give him a chance. All he needed was a chance.

We decided to give Apollo that chance and we are glad that we did. Apollo finished narcotics school in November of last year and did indeed finish first in his class. He is extremely friendly and can often be found trying to get us to play with him. He has brought great joy to all of us at the department in addition to being a very productive and hard worker. He is now a part of his handlers personal family and the family of the Tukwila Police Department.

Please like and or follow our page for continued photos and updates on our newest family member Apollo :)
