🌞 How Hot is Too Hot for Dogs? 🌡️
With the summer heat in full swing, it's important to know when temperatures can become dangerous for our furry friends. 🐾
🔹 75°F (24°C) and above: Be cautious. Pavement can become hot enough to burn paws, and prolonged exposure can lead to heat exhaustion.
🔹 85°F (29°C) and above: Increased risk of heatstroke. Short walks early in the morning or late in the evening are best.
🔹 90°F (32°C) and above: Extreme caution. Avoid outdoor activities. Keep your dog in a cool, air-conditioned environment.
At 125°F, skin destruction can happen in 60 seconds.
📣7 SECOND RULE:
Press back of hand against the asphalt for 7 seconds. If its too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog's paws.
🚫 Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes. The temperature inside can rise rapidly and become fatal.
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh water and shade. Watch for signs of overheating, such as excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy.

🎆🐾 July 4th can be stressful for pets, mainly dogs, due to fireworks and gunshots. With the 4th just around the corner lets make sure our pets are comfortable, here are signs of noise phobia in pets:
▪️ Hiding
▪️ Trembling or shaking
▪️ Seeking the owner
▪️ Urinating or defecating
▪️ Pacing/Panting
▪️ Chewing
▪️ Digging
▪️ Barking or howling
▪️ Escape or run away from noise

Tips to calm your dog:
▪️ Use a crate, bedroom, closet, or bathroom.
▪️ Play soothing music or turn on the TV.
▪️ Keep your pet company and act normally.
▪️ Never use punishment.

Helpful products:
▪️Wraps & Shirts (e.g., Thundershirt)
▪️Pheromone Products (e.g., Adaptil for dogs, Feliway for cats)

There are medications that could be given to calm your pet down. Contact us at 316-399-2200 to schedule an appointment. If your pet already has a preexisting prescribe with us for noise phobia, please allow 72 hours in advance notice so we can prepare the medication refill for you!

1. Hydrate! Ensure they have plenty of water, especially on hot days.
2. Protect their paws from hot surfaces.
3. Provide shade and never leave them in parked cars.
4. Guard against bugs with preventatives.
5. Prevent sunburn by limiting direct sunlight exposure.
6. Recognize signs of heatstroke and act fast.
