Meet Ambrose!!! ⭐️

Ambrose came to us from another shelter where he wasn’t getting adopted. We were hoping Ambrose would adapt to Hickory but unfortunately it’s been a month and he isn’t aggresive with the other cats but doesn’t seem to fond of them. At Hickory majority of the cats are not caged and free roam the rooms. We think if he was in a home he could even do well with one or two cats.

He’s very loving with humans and sometimes has a wild side where he will sometimes go for our feet, but it’s mainly just playful! He loves toys as well and treats! Right now Ambrose is having to stay in a confined space and we can see he’s slowly becoming more sad most days. We urgently want to get Ambrose in a home!

Issa’s old owners couldn’t financially care for her and she temporarily ended up in the care of someone else who can’t keep Issa anymore. She’s desperately looking for placement for Issa. She is house trained and she’s great with kids, dogs and cats! She’s very relaxed and not hyper at all!

Donations needed to help Rue!! 🖤

EDIT: HUGE THANK YOU to an anonymous donor who was willing to order the red light therapy for Rue… we are incredibly grateful for your continued support ❤️

Two things that we’re asking for some extra help with. 🐶

First thing - we found out that our Rue is showing signs of arthritis in her hips, as well as a tear in her knee. We have been trying to keep her on kennel rest the best we can, but in a shelter environment, it makes it very hard for things to heal the way they’re supposed to. We have ordered an orthopedic brace for her to wear throughout the day that should help support her hips & her knees, and she is on supplements that help with these things too. The other thing that would be the most beneficial for Rue is red light therapy. Doing so through a vet would be costly, so we are looking into doing it ourselves, at Hickory, where Rue is comfortable. That being said, we need to find the funds to be able to buy the red light therapy. Second thing we’re asking for help with - metal hanging buckets! We have to replace almost all of our plastic water buckets for the dogs because of state regulations and they are not cheap! We have found a shop on Amazon that sells the exact ones we are needing, in a bulk amount for a discounted price. Photo for reference. We know the chances of finding someone to donate all of these buckets is very slim, so we are also asking for donations to our Venmo to put towards the $256 purchase of these water buckets that we will have to make within the next month. Again, any amount helps! 🙌🏼

EDIT- we have had a few people reach out to see how they can donate towards Xenas medical bills. You can send through Venmo or write a check and schedule a time to drop it off. Our Venmo is and just put Xena in the subject line so we know!

If you’ve been following us for a while you may recognize this sweet face, Xena. She was dumped at the Augusta lake over the summer along with some of her siblings and we held 2 of them on a stray hold for Augusta animal control. They have been with us since.

A couple things about Xena she is a very energetic and lovey girl who just wants to be in your presence at all times. Whether that’s on your lap or just in the vicinity she craves the presence of humans. Sometimes she is exerting so much energy at once that she hurts herself, accidentally, but so much so that she requires surgery for some of her injuries. She has been able to recover from the surgeries pretty quickly at the shelter but it wasn’t ideal.

Well her most recent injury has presented us with another surgical solution. She has a hygroma fluid bubble, which is caused by repeated trauma or pressure from lying on hard surfaces. The surgery to treat this would include draining the fluid from her elbow and putting a drain in to make sure it’s not filling back up. The drain would be there for 3-5 days at least. Xena would need 24/7 care and supervision to make sure everything stays in place and to make sure it’s staying as clean as possible. Unfortunately we don’t have the funds or a calm and supervised environment for her to recover in if we have to go the surgical route, which is very likely in her situation. We are desperate to find a home for her immediately or we will have to consider humane euthanasia. This decision is never made lightly and her safety is our top priority, but the reality is we don’t have to funds to pay for a surgery every time she hurts herself. Please we are begging anyone to open their hearts and home to Xena.

- Dog treats & bones to keep the dogs busy during colder weather.

Lucky is going on 4 YEARS at Hickory 💔 He spends 98% of his day in a kennel where he has grown to be content, but he would be ecstatic to have a home to call his own.

These two dogs had been running Leon for a couple weeks. They have recently been kept in someone’s back yard while they are out of town family is demanding they leave. They’ve been checked for microchips and are very friendly dogs. Is there anyone who could help by taking these dogs in?!
