The neighbor's cow got into our pasture which freaked out the horse and donkeys. Hubby to the rescue. He herded and rounded up baby cow back into his own pasture. Good job Babe! Lol 🧹🤠

Dexter was gelded aka castrated last Wednesday but developed a minor infection. Ocala Farm Doc came back out yesterday to flush/clean out the area and we are on doc's orders to walk Dexter as much as possible.

Thank you to Erin Munz for Sumter County Clerk of Circuit Court for taking Dexter on a much needed walk this morning. I snapped some cute photos of them together. 💗

Be cautious of certain cleaning chemicals, cookware, incense, candles, plants and decorations that are not safe for birds.

🚫 NEVER use the self cleaning option on the oven 🚫
Yes, self-cleaning ovens can be dangerous to parrots because the fumes they emit can be fatal: The fumes produced by a self-cleaning oven contain polytetrafluoroethylene, which is especially toxic to birds. Inhaling these fumes can cause coughing, sweating, breathing issues, and flu-like symptoms. The fatality rate for birds exposed to these fumes is very high.

If you have lots of relatives and children visiting over the holidays, unless you can supervise and trust people not to stick fingers in cage, feed unsafe foods or open the cage door, please put your bird in another room.

Many birds get sick, injured and fly off during the holiday season. The major holidays are also the hardest time of the year to find an available avian vet.

Always research where avian vets and emergency avian vets are in your area BEFORE you need to find a vet.

I want to start with DEXTER IS FINE! 😅👍

I had my family put him away last night in his paddock but someone didn't close the corral panel keeping him away from the lawn chair and such. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Dexter here decided to wear the chair instead. No idea how long he was wearing the chair but he is fine. His surgical area is fine. I found him sleeping with it on actually. Even the chair is fine! That's some good quality right there. Lol 🤣

Here is Dexter waking up from anesthesia. It definitely took him quite a while and more than a few falls to get his bearings. Just like with people, anesthesia can effect different animals differently. Dexter's legs seemed to want to move faster than his brain could keep up with. Lol Poor guy took a few tumbles but Ocala Farm Doc was amazing and stayed with him till he could stand on his own. Donkeys are very willful animals and he was determined to keep trying before he was ready. Lol Kenny was on the other side of the fence checking on his buddy. 🫏💗

Dexter was gelded aka castrated today by Ocala Farm Doc. Dr. Sonday was amazing with him and the surgery went smoothly. Poor Kenny did struggle a bit with waking up from anesthesia but is fine now. Doc stayed with him for almost an hour to make sure he was ok. 🫏💗

Just like with Kenny's surgery, we had Dexter on Yunnan Baiyao for 5 days leading up to the procedure and will continue him on it for another week.

See the difference that Yunnan Baiyao made. Donkeys are prone to bleeding and complications during surgeries.

❤️💚 Wasabi the Mexican Red Headed Amazon 💚❤️

This little guy is so sweet and funny. Often mistake for the Lilac Crowned Amazon due to also having some lilac/violet colors on his head. Wasabi here loves to sing and chatter away. He's missing a couple of toes on his left foot due to landing on another's birds cage in the past.

A cool little fact about Wasabi is that he is a wild-caught parrot! There are small flocks of wild Amazon parrots in parts of South Florida. Wasabi was found when he was a young fledgling. As amazing as it sounds to have wild parrots in Florida, they are not protected because they are not native.

💕Meet Indie the Blue Throated Macaw & Sommer the Golden Conure 💕

These two are the sweetest besties. They enjoy flying around and hanging out. They love to snuggle and preen each other.

Golden Conures are prone to funky beak issues so Dr. Clubb fixed her up this week during their vet appointment. Sommer needs frequent routine beak trims to keep it shaped properly. ❤️

He's a big boy who enjoys hanging out with people who give him treats. Lol 💕

Buffons are also known as the Great Green Macaw. Jasper here almost 1300 grams. They are considered Critically Endangered in the wild unfortunately.... Habitat loss and poaching have severely impacted this species... ESA Laws make it impossible for foreign conservation breeding to help the wild populations in their native habitats..

Illiger’s Macaws are considered a mini Macaw, similar in size to the more common Severe Macaws. They are a seriously endangered species in the wild.

Blue Headed Macaws are another species of Mini Macaw, also similar in size to the more common Severe Macaw. They are endangered in the wild. It's very sad how many of these beautiful birds are getting closer to extinction every day due to habitat loss...

First trailer ride together for Kenny and Dexter. They're so cute! I really hope these two become friends. 🫏💕 Thank you to the amazing people of Horses That Help who graciously took care of these guys throughout not just one but two Florida hurricanes! 🙏💗

Hilarious video of Dexter (prev Declan) the Donkey after we loaded him into the trailer today. He did grow up with a dog so maybe that's where his silly behaviors are from. 😆🫏💕

🌳 Downed Tree 🌳 This video gives you a better idea of how BIG this tree is! The photos don't do it justice. It's blocked the entrance to our property gate but at least volunteers and caretakers can get in and out. Here is one of our awesome caretakers who is demonstrating just how massive the tree really is. 😅🙏

Ever see a donkey and dog play together? This might be the sweetest thing I've seen! Declan the Donkey is not known for being gentle with people but look how carefully he plays with his bestie Tara. 💕

Remember little Luna the Sugar Glider? Well she and Ayla were both transferred to Sugar Haven Rescue over the weekend and they are doing so well. Luna has been adopted and here she is, bonding with her new sister. 💗 Ayla will likely be paired up with a neutered male due to her spicy attitude. Lol I want to express my gratitude to Leah who runs Sugar Haven Rescue as well as Samantha, the foster/volunteer who is adopting Luna. They are far more experienced than I am when it comes to these adorable little marsupials. 🥰 It is such a wonderful thing when rescues can come together to help one another.
