Important Announcement-

We are reaching the peak of the summer season! With that comes an overabundance of work, calls, and messages. After careful evaluation of my business and current market prices, I have finally made the decision to raise my rates to more accurately reflect my skills and the cost of running this business.
This decision was not taken lightly and it is something I have been putting off for a very long time. I would like to be able to shoe horses for years to come, and in order to do that I must preserve my physical and emotional health.
New clients will automatically be on the new rates, existing clients should expect to be transitioned to the updated prices by August. I will be letting you know the changes at your next appointment or by request through messenger.

Thank you all for your continued loyalty and business over the years. Your dedication to using my services through the ups and downs is greatly appreciated. I value you all ❤️

-A Friendly Reminder-

Regular clients take priority in scheduling. All new clients must agree to stay on a 6-8 week rotation at maximum. Failure to adhere to a set schedule will result in loss of status as a regular client, and therefore no longer be prioritized for future appointments. Moreover, it is not the responsibility of the farrier to reach out to the client to set up future appointments. The opportunity to book future appointments will be available at the conclusion of each session as a mutually agreed upon date and time.

Please keep in mind that I see hundreds of horses. It isn’t feasible for me to reach out to every client to remind them to set up an appointment based on their desired timeline.

Thank you for your understanding,
Lauren Faas

Sometimes we take the tools we use everyday for granted. We don’t think about what it takes to make them.
In making my own knives I’ve come to appreciate things I’d overlooked before. It also gives me the opportunity to customize them to an exact size and shape

A few of my favorite show packages from this season! Every horse is an individual and each setup is designed to help the horse move and perform to the best of their ability. All while keeping it as simple as possible and staying out of their way.

Sometimes feet don’t look long, especially coming out of winter. But as you can see, this horse did have quite a bit of length that becomes much more visible after looking at the trimmed black hoof next to the untrimmed white hoof! You can also see the clipping laying to the left of the black hoof in the first picture.

So moral of the story, sometimes they don’t look long, but it’s better to manage feet on a regular schedule than it is to try to recover ones that have gone way too long between trims. If you are at all unsure, asking your farrier to take a look is a great idea. Your horse and farrier will thank you for sticking to a 6-8 week schedule!

A small example of what was on the agenda today-

9” sections of 3/8”x3/4” turned into some cool little pony shoes!

For my shoes this tiny, I like to mark all my nail holes first. It helps me keep the shape symmetrical.

I get to trim and shoe some interesting horses and sometimes the owners even let me play with them at the end! This is a Peruvian Paso mare that has thousands of hours of exhibitions, parades, and trail riding under her belt. At the end of her trim today, I took this quick video to show her gait. They are known as one of the smoothest riding horses in the world!

(Edited to add: the horses gait much smoother when not on such a short rope)
