When Goldie arrived yesterday she was accidentally identified as a boy dog named Happy. Sorry for the confusion but this sweet dog is a girl.

This little 6 year old Chihuahua/terrier mix is looking for a home. We are posting Bentley as a courtesy post. If you are interested in meeting him or have any questions you can email the owner Suzanne: [email protected]

The family circumstances have changed and she now has to work all day and he is not doing well being alone 10-12 hours a day. He is getting depressed and not eating.

He is neutered and microchipped and she will update vaccines before he leaves.

Bentley is mostly housebroken but will have accidents if alone too long. He does well with other dogs and cats.

He has never walked on a leash so he would need training with that.

He is somewhat timid and will get scared easily if someone goes to grab him quickly or roughly and he will nip in those situations. He has not broken the skin but due to this behavior young children would not be a good fit for him. He needs someone who will be gentle and patient with him.

He is crate trained but we already know he doesn't like to be in a crate all day so he should have a home where he is not alone all day.

He is located in Norfolk VA but the owner is willing to drive if it’s a good home for him.

Two more adorable little dogs are breaking out of the shelter today and headed to Homes Fur Hounds. Bob will be headed out soon to go pick them up. We’re so excited for them on their new adventure.

Thanks so much to Top Dog Grooming for working in Remy right before his surgery, which is scheduled for Wednesday. They did a wonderful job and Remy looks very handsome. We appreciate their help with these poor little dogs who come in needing lots of TLC with their grooming.

Elsa has been spayed and is ready to find her forever home.

Elsa is a very cute 27 pound, 3 year old hunting dog who arrived here with her sister, Dansby. Turns out they were terrible hunters since they loved people so much they would run up to get petted rather than chase the deer. Lucky for them that landed them here looking for a home.

Elsa is a sweet, lovable girl who is a little shy at first but warms up to people quickly. She has adjusted to being an inside pet very well sleeping in her crate, pet beds, and the sofa (along with her Poodle foster sister).

Housebreaking is going well with only an accident or two when we first got her. She is a good eater and with no food aggression, although she will eat her sister's food if given a chance.
She's starting to discover toys, but also remotes and other "non-toys".

She did OK on the leash when we brought her to the vet but she isn't great on a leash yet. Typical beagle. The foster parents are working with her on that.

So far Elsa seems to really like the life of a family pet. Since she loves people and other dogs she would make a great addition to any family. We have not tested her with cats.

Dansby has been spayed and is ready for a forever home!

Dansby is one of the very beautiful 3 year old hunting beagles we took in recently with her sister Elsa. As you can see in the pictures, she is quickly falling in love with being an inside family pet. She even snuggles on the couch with her poodle foster sister.

Dansby is very sweet and a bit shy at first. She is adjusting well to being a pet and has done really well with housebreaking. She is also discovering toys and likes to carry her toys around and take them to her bed.

She is a little bit of a "talker" and does bark at neighbors going by so she will need a bit of training. She will come to you when called and her barking seems to be something she does when she wants to play rather than an aggressive bark.

Dansby is not as food motivated as most beagles and will sometimes not even eat all her food. She is a slow eater and has no food aggression.

She is friendly and playful with people and with the foster poodle in the home. She was a little nervous at the vet's office but did fine. The longer she is here the more we see her wonderful, fun personality.

She is vaccinated, heartworm negative, micro-chipped and spayed.
