Hello everyone let's welcome Miss Diamond to the crew.

She was trapped and taken to the vet as the finder said she though she may have been hit by a car at some point because she was walking on her back leg funny.

So we got her trapped and took her to RoseBird to be dropped off for examination when the doc had a chance. (Since it wasn't an emergency).

A big thank u to the crew and Doc Bob at Rosebird for looking at her while we're we there.

Turns out this lady is over a year old. Though she doesn't look like she is more then 6 months. Only weighs about 4.8 lbs. So she is severely malnourished and is week from the lack of calories. She was tested for FIV/FELV and was negative. Thank the Good Lord!!!!! She has fleas and worms but other than that she looks good.

We will treat her for all that plus for Caccidia and Guardia just to be safe. We won't start vaccines or get her spayed until she buts on some weight. We will watch her weight carefully and as long as she is gaining we won't need to go black to the vet until she is ready to be spayed.

She is the sweetest girl ever. So we will work on getting her better and hopefully someone will want to take this sweet girl home.

The End of Cinnamon's Journey

It is with a heavy heart that we inform our readers that Cinnamons Journey has ended. On Sunday Cinnamon had still was not eating or drinking. She was very dehydrated and had become lethargic. On Monday we hospitalized her hoping that with some supportive care she would come around. On Wednesday morning the update from the Vet was that she still was not eating or drinking and they had little hope for recovery. She was starving to death. So we made the decision to put her to sleep. She went peacefully with her Foster mom showing her as much love as she could before she took her last breath. We may have only had Cinnamon for a short time but she was loved. WE will keep her in our hearts. Thank you for following her journey even though it was a short one.

Cinnamon Has arrived.
Welcome to Cinnamon's Journey!
Hello Everyone, This is Cinnamon and this is just the beginning of her Journey to a new life. We will be documenting her recover and rehabilitation and hope that you join us on Wednesdays and Sundays for updates, pictures and videos .
On March 22, 2024 we received a message from a young lady who was very concerned about a stray cat that had been laying in their yard not moving for a few days. It had some sort of infection that was causing the eye and nose to be crusted over. They tried to catch the cat to no avail. So they asked if we could please step in and help. We have been closed for intakes for some time now but after seeing the pic of this cat we knew we had help.
So we loaded the car with our rescue supplies and headed to Hughesville. When we arrived there was this poor cat just laying there. Our goal at this time was to get her into a trap with as little as stress as possible. She was not having any of this and quickly mustered up enough energy to run away. She was now hiding under the neighbors house. We thought for sure this was it, that we wouldn't be able to get her now. So we took a step back and brainstormed on how we could trap this cat without setting a trap. ( there are so many strays in this area that we probably would have never caught her that way.) about 20 mins in we were alerted by a neighbor that she was sitting on the other side of the house. With a little bit of stealth and patients we were able to catch a cat that we thought was her. Her or not this cat needed immediate care. Off to the vet we go.
After dropping her off at the vet we waited anxiously for any word on her condition. The first update from Doc Andy was good news. Her eye was intact (what a relief) but she had a deep laceration on her eyelid that was infected which was causing all the puss and swelling. She was tested for FIV/FELV and was negative (another sigh of relief) Up next was Spay and Rabies.
Later that day Doc Andy called with a new update. He informed us that this young cat was not pregnant but had a deadly infection called Pyometra. This infection is deadly if untreated and he was sure that if we would not have stepped in she would have died with in weeks maybe days. On top of all of that she had one of the worst URI's that we have ever seen. This poor cat was in so much pain and was so sick I am surprised she was still with us. Doc removed the infection and treated her with a broad-spectrum antibiotics. She was now able to be released back into her colony. Or at least that was what the plan was.
At pickup Doc Andy was a strong advocate for this young lady. He tells us that he would put her at about 8 months old and that he truly believes that this little lady would adjust quite well in the right environment. We were still planning on releasing her as we are not equipped or experienced enough to handle and rehabilitate a feral cat. (if you would have seen her the day we got her spitting, hissing, and lunging when anyone gets close to the trap). So they bring her out and we take a good look and OMG her eye looks so bad. We knew in that moment if nothing else we were going to keep her in care until she starts to heal. If in that time she comes around we will do everything we can to find her a home. If once the pain and sickness starts to improve and she becomes aggressive or if she seems to be depressed we will release her back to her colony where she can life out her life without anymore heat cycles or pregnancies.
Today is day 2 of her being in a cage at her new foster home. She is still very scared but I think that the pain and sickness is just to overwhelming. She is laying in the cage not eating and it is heartbreaking. We have been cleaning her eye and nose every 2 to 3 hours and she is already looking so much better. We will continue supportive care to include syringe feeding until she is strong enough to do it on her own. She does let us pet her at this time but we are cautious with her because well you never know what an animal is thinking.
For now she is warm, and has food and water. We will do everything we can to help give this lady a good life no matter if that is in a home or in her colony.
This will be the first of many posts about Miss Cinnamon. Please Join us next week on Wednesday for the next installment of Cinnamon's Journey.

I received the best news this evening. My longest resident is finally getting his forever home. And the best part is that I know they family he is going with will accept him for him and give him the life he deserves. I will miss him dearly and although I am super happy I am sad too. It will be weird not seeing his face everyday.

We are down to just 5 fosters here. It feels kinda strange not having a bunch of little ones playing. Goal is to get down to zero so we can do a deep clean and get ready for the upcoming kitten season. I pray ut isn't as bad as last year!

Sugar is feeling so much better and today she let me hold her on my lap and pet her. I was so excited. I even got a picture before she decided she had enough and got down. Little steps but its in the right direction.

I am so sad right now. On Tuesday I noticed Sugar wasn't acting like herself but she wasn't showing any signs of being sick so I let it go. By Thursday she was dehydrated and her temp was slightly low. Vet said metro cerenia for the vomiting and fluids. Although I was giving the amount told it wasn't enough. She seemd to do better then declined. Now she has fluids in her lungs and her abdomen. She is still dehydrated has a fever and is now on oxygen. Can't do any more tests until she is hydrated. A part of me feels like it's my fault she is so bad cause I should have had them do more the first time when he gave me the choice. Or taken her back yesterday because she still wasn't eating or drinking right. I am praying that Doc Andy can figure out what is wrong with her and that it's something that can be treated without making her suffer.

It's been awhile since I have posted. So here's some updates.

Mr Orobii has been adopted and someone is coming tomorrow to me Tritolii. Fingers crossed they decide to adopt him even though he is a little shy.

V***n and Wizard have homes and will go ad soon as they get fixed.

Qdoba is still here and will probably end up hoping to a sanctuary since he really doesn't like to be inside.

Bloo is still here and we went through a period where he would come near me. But today he decided I am worthy of his love. He has come up to hang out on the couch with me and let me pet him again.

Icelyn is slowly getting better but she still will only let me pet her if I am sitting under covers. It's so weird.

Arctic and Cindy Lou won't let me near them so we are gonna try them with another foster to see if she has any luck getting them to trust since I had to be the bad guy and administer meds. When cats are already afraid having to hold them down to do meds can hurt the socialization process.

Sugar has become sick and is getting fluids and meds so hopefully she gets better soon. She was getting better with letting me pet her and I am hoping that once she comes out of this it didn't ruin the trust that we were building.

Ugh. Its that time of year. I haven't been feeling great now several of the babies have eye infections. Including Qdoba who is not happy with me having to clean his eye and put ointment in. He is all Hissy. Lol I think V***n had a bladder infection and Orobii is doing alot of sneezing. So meds and rest it is. Hopefully everyone gets better quickly.

It's been really crazy the last week or so. Had several new kittens come in and a few go adopted.

In order top to bottom. Wizard came in last month but is finally exploring and loving the house and all his new play mates. V***n she is so spunky and I love it . Her and Wizard are close in age and spend most of the day playing together or napping together.
Fist on the bottom is Galaxy. She came in with her sister who we named Treasure. Galaxy is so vocal and is missing her sister who was Hospitalized for some pretty serious injuries. She also came with the next kitten Icelyn. Icelyn is older but she is so sweet. Alittle shy right now but we are working on it. I am in love with her if no one adopts her I just may be willing to make her the last and final kitten of our household. And last but certain not least is Arctic, sugar. And Cindy Lou. They are very sick with URI's and eye infections. Started on meds and hopefully feeling better soon. They are still alityle scared of me but it's to be expected. We will continue to work with all these newbies and get them ready as quickly as possible.
Wizard is about 8 weeks old. He will be available in about a month. V***n well she already has a good home to go to so we r all excited for her. She will not leave for at least another month or 2 depending on how fast she grows and gains weight. Galaxy is ready to be fixed on the 12th and will be ready after that. Ivelyn will also be getting fixed on the 12th and she will be ready very soon foe her new home. Arctic, Sugar, and Cindy Lou will be her for at least a month. But hopeful we can get them to a good weight and all cleared for sickness quickly so we can get them fixed and ready to go.

Please don't wait though. If u see one u like please go fill out an app. Even if u don't see their pic on the website u can still put in an app. Just click on any adopt button or on the link below. A deposit will hold them and then as soon as they are ready they can become a part of ur family. The quicker they leave and open up spay the more kittens we can save. Matter of fact please just go take a look at who is already available they may be a little older but they have been waiting so patiently for their forever home. We all need love.

Intakes have been on hold but this situation was one we just couldn't say no to. This little guy was found by a barn all by itself in an area where there are alot of coyotes. We just couldn't leave him there. We have no clue where mom is or if he was the only one.

We have named him Wizard. He has a very bad eye infection and a pretty bad URI. Idk if he isn't eating because he can't smell or if he hasn't learned to eat on his own yet. We gave him some milk replacer and tried some chicken baby food.

We put him between 6-8 weeks old. We started him on antibiotics to treat the URI and eye ointment for is eye infections. Started meds to take care of worms and any kind of gut issues he may have at this time.

Oh my he is so very sweet. Not scared of ppl at all and he really just wants to cuddle with me. Gonna let him rest awhile and then give him som love this evening once I get all my housework done.

Keanu got adopted!!!! Yay. Just a few more to go.

11/07/2023

Hey everyone. Its been a little bit since I posted last. Its been pretty busy around here. The twins Kia and Kauai have been adopted together. Isn't that great. I was so happy for them. Alelo had his eye surgery but unfortunately it didn't heal like the vet was hoping so He will have to have it removed. Blooregard is still with us which makes me so sad since he is so very sweet and so deserving of a forever home. Orobii and Tritolii are still here and as crazy as always. They have so much energy it unreal. Keanu is so affectionate its almost annoying. Not sure why he feels like bedtime is the best time to get love. Hector and Petunia potentially have a home we will see. I just hope we get everyone homes soon.

I will try and post new pictures real soon.

Miss Maxine was adopted yesterday. She is gonna love her new home. I am so happy foe her.

Alelo had to have meds put into his eye and have it stitched shut so it can heal. He will be partial blind in that eye but at least he will be able to see out of it a bit. He is still so very sweet and I can't wait for his adopter to meet him.
