What do you do when you can’t find a trainer with the ethics you like? You could take matters into your own hands like William Rathbone and become an unordinary dog trainer.
William Rathbone, Bill, has been training his own dogs and others for ten years. After completing dog obedience trainer/instructor classes through Penn Foster, Bill studied different methods from various trainers and made them this own. With his wife, Summer, who’s studying to be a veterinarian technician, and their children, Bill trains dogs at his home in Townville.
Obedience is the base of everything, the foundation for any future training. Without, obedience, they cannot do anything else. It’s what makes a great companion. We use positive training with food and treats as a reward. We also use an e-collar for the more problem dogs we have had.
Along with his six German Shepherds and a small mixed breed, the Rathbone family helps other families by training and boarding.
We can train you dog to be more obedient
around the house. Socialization with children and other animals is important, and controlling your companion for the many aspects of daily life. My children help so your dog isn’t dependent on one person for training.
Communication is key to Bill when he is training a family’s companion. He updates the family many times throughout the process by calling or sending pictures. After a week with the dog, he meets with the family to encourage them to participate with the training.
Bill and Summer teach their children compassion and patience, and each of them benefits from the rewards.
It makes me feel good that the dog can be with the family instead of ending up in a bad situation. We strive to see a happy pet and happy pet parents. We enjoy watching the owner put forth an effort to train their dog and the successful interaction with their furry family member.
Bill’s training is on-going. He offers follow up sessions, either at his home or the owners home. Like children, dogs like to test. They often return home and slip back into bad habits. Bill encourages communication and is available for extra sessions or simply a phone call to encourage consistency.
Bill isn’t an ordinary trainer. He encourages communication, patience, and consistency.
