Bella was nominated for athlete of the week for Track & Field!! Being only a 9th grader, she has excelled athletically this year with 4 varsity sport. She is ranked in both the long jump and 100m events. She has worked so hard and we could not be more proud of her.

This post by embark is something that applies to Tamaskan Dogs, as well!

Many people think that because their dog looks similar or has a similar breed mix to registered Tamaskan Dogs, that their dog could also be a Tamaskan. However, this is not the case. The Tamaskan Dog breed exists because of very selective breeding of specific dogs and bloodlines. All 5 of the official Tamaskan Dog registries worldwide require DNA parentage to prove and track lineage, and our breed's lineages are very well recorded!

In addition, all Tamaskan Dogs are microchipped by their breeders prior to going to their new homes. The registries keep records of every Tamaskan Dog and its microchip number. If you are wondering if you found, adopted, or purchased a potential Tamaskan Dog, have your vet check the dog for a microchip. If they have one, you are welcome to contact the Tamaskan Dog registries in order to verify whether that dog is a Tamaskan or not. ❤

Exciting news and breeding update!!!!

After careful consideration and working with breeders on 2 continents across ITR and AKC. We have decided to introduce a French Bulldog into our breeding lines as an approved outcross! Welcome Pikachu of House Aether to our breeding program. We believe Pikachu will bring reasonably sized ears & tails, next level athleticism, and a more wolfy head shape.

His first litter will be with Indy this summer!!! If you’re interested in getting on the waitlist for what is sure to be a very unique and stunning litter - please shoot us a message.

Our dogs are all big loves, Pika (the frenchie) loves his puppies. The dogs have also taken to allowing Mushu to use them for warmth and like his snuggles (those are Indy and Naru bums). They are monsters but really loving ones - we really are so lucky.

Roberta “Bobbi” Wasabi (Aether Seasmoke), we’re convinced she is the sweetest most snuggly little house bear ever. Bobbi is the absolute best girl and has brought us so much joy and laughter. Everyone who meets her absolutely adores her. She is also HUGE - bigger than Indy!

Wolfdogs of the Ebon Blade owner Katie allowed me to share some of her photos of Eve and Syl to show the difference between a hybrid with 44% wolf and a hybrid with 95%. The difference between the 2 shown is incredible. Syl is astonishingly beautiful but high contents are not for the faint of heart. Our puppies are nowhere near this content they are ultra-low, less than 15% wolf DNA. I get a little chuckle when people say oh they look just like wolves (they don’t) or refer to their Tam as a wolf (it’s not) and both of those things are totally ok, they aren’t wolves. We want to educate people on Tams so that there isn’t a population of folks thinking they can handle a high content (most people can’t). I am no expert on high contents but you can head over to Wolfdogs of the Ebon Blade where Katie shares lots of information about her dogs.

On January 4th, our family had our lives turned upside down. My very loved and adored cousin, Alexis (27), passed away with her 4 dogs (Caine, Diesel, Ratchet, and Rylee) in a tragic automobile accident.

Alexis was an absolute animal lover and spent her free time rescuing and helping all animals. If you are so inclined, please donate to the Alexis fund at Saranac Veterinary Clinic or Venmo my Aunt Kim (Alexis’s mom) stating The Alexis Fund.

Here is a picture of Alexis with Stark (Aether Balerion) who she absolutely adored. I see Alexis in my puppies, in the color purple all around, and I hear her in the music we both loved. Grief, truly is, the price we pay for love.

We are praying that our Sylvaen “cousins” can get home to Zagreb from Istanbul where they are currently stuck. I know this is stressful for the breeder, the puppies, and their new families. We were a mess when Indy was stuck in Germany for over a day. Wishing the puppies all the best as I know personally this can be so hard to bounce back from.

Exercising your puppy!

So we all know a tired puppy is a good puppy but we don’t want them so tired that we injure them. After all when you bring your puppy homes they’re a baby. So here is the quick and dirty on puppy exercise.

The general rule for puppy exercise (and the one preferred by AKC) is: five minutes of exercise per month of age (up to twice a day) until the puppy is fully grown, i.e. 15 minutes (up to twice a day) when three months old, 20 minutes when four months old etc. Once they are fully grown, they can go out for much longer, but remember this is all dependent on breed, temperament, health and many other variables. There is never a one size fits all approach.

What are some dangers of over-exercising?
Affecting the development of the growth plates, early damage and injury can cause lifelong debilitating issues.
Other issues:
- Sprains and strains
- Exhaustion
- Over-heating (heat exhaustion or stroke)
- Paw pad injuries.

What are some exercises that are safe and puppy friendly? I’m sure there are many more I haven’t listed.
- Short walks (in a mild temperature)
- Tug-o-war
- Hide and go seek (you hide)
- Chase, your puppy chases you and is rewarded when he tags you gently
- Scent work
- Treat puzzles
- Short swims

Why is exercise important?
For so many reason but especially your puppy’s health and building a strong bond with your puppy.
- Improved health
- Promotes healthy weight
- Reduced behavioral issues
- Builds confidence
- Socialization
- Bonding with handler
- Training

How do you know if you puppy isn’t getting enough exercise/stimulation?
You may begin to see destructive behaviors and acting out. This isn’t always the case but it’s something to consider.
- Hyperactivity
- Being destructive: chewing and digging
- Barking and whining
- Rough play
