Today we honor Memorial Day and our fallen soldiers and Service Members that sacrificed their lives to protect our Freedom. We remember those that died too young fighting at war for our beloved country. We share compassion and empathy for the family members that mourn the loss of their beloved on this day. Most of all we remember all of the Service Members died heroes for ALL OF US in America! They died with honor, dignity and proud to protect and serve our country. These men and women died Heroes and when they signed that contract knew they were signing a blank check to the citizens of America to give any and all of themselves up to sacrificing their lives to protect our country and our people. Please join me today in a moment of silence for all of those that never made it back. Be proud to be American. Be proud to raise that flag. And most of all never forget about those that sacrificed everything so you could be free.

When two "besties" get spayed 2 weeks apart. The Golden (Lulu) finally has off leash privileges but insists on lying next to her best friend even though her crate door is open as the Dalmatian (Twiggy) recuperates from her spay surgery. It's as if she's saying "Don't worry sis. I'm here. I'll stay by your side while you heal."

Band Day Parade! Best day ever with my 3 Service Dogs (in the red vests), Twiggy the Dalmatian and Gunny the Belgian Malanois (Service Dog to one of our local veterans). So proud of what Twiggy and Gunny have accomplished since first coming to our program!!

We appreciate and love all the hard working, self-sacrificing, loving mothers out there that give their all for their families! If no one has told you today- you are beautiful, amazing, loved and the most wonderful creation on earth!

Meet Mindy! When she first came to us she was a 4 month old Pomchi with very little training, lacking confidence and a bit of a sassy girl attitude! This cute little firecracker has the voice of an Opera singer and can hit the highest note and screech it for hours without losing her voice. She initially struggled to walk on a leash, needed help with potty training and very limited social skills with other dogs. She would jump all over the bigger and older dogs and bite repeatedly which they didn't appreciate. She had all the normal naughty puppy behavior- biting, jumping, demand barking and overall "spoiled princess" behavior.

After about a month of sessions twice a week Mindy has come a long way in improving her behavior! She knows all her basic commands (Sit, down, stay, here, out, wait, watch and touch). She has significantly improved on her leash walking and doesn't just stand on her hind legs bouncing around like a kangaroo. Mindy has learned some fantastic social skills and gets along great with big and little dogs equally well.

She has reduced her "banshee" shrieking to only a few minutes instead of hours non-stop in the crate. I am so happy to see how much Mindy has improved for her mama! She is growing up into such a beautiful, confident little "chicken nugget" (my nickname for her since she's only 4 lbs!).

She is also currently working hard on her recall as currently sometimes she likes to run away from her mom or run in circles just arm's distance away so you can't grab her. All in all she is such a great success story and we continue to look forward to being a part of her training journey as she grows up into a well-mannered little lady!

Meet Lila! This beautiful girl is a mix of Shephard/Husky/Cattle dog and Lab and 5 months old. She was recently rescued/adopted and needed basic training, leash walking, and had SEVERE anxiety in the crate. Contrary to her interesting mix of breeds she is absolutely a complete sweetheart and so docile (very unexpected)!! The most gentle of hearts and extremely submissive as well.

We worked on building her confidence first and building her comfort level in the crate. We focused on showing her that she would not be stuck there for extremely lengthy periods of time and gave lots of high value rewards. Initially she would salivate heavily leaving massive puddles of drool. After building some trust with us she started to relax in her crate and the hypersalivating diminished immensely.

She excelled in learning the hand signals for each command (sit, down, stay, here, out, watch and touch) and she loved being told how GOOD she was! And of course she loooved the tasty treats as well! She worked on leash walking a lot as Initially when she first arrived she thought she was a lead sled dog and humans were her cargo! By the end of her session she could walk with perfect manners and not try to rip her mom to the ground or pull her to the North Pole!

She also aced her first day of obedience training and became relaxed in the crate where she could finally lie down and sleep or rest without hyperventilating or leaving swimming pools of saliva everywhere. We worked on her jumping and her overall puppy behavior like mouthing or taking treats before given permission. Lila was such a pleasure to work with and we look forward to continuing her training!!

Meet Fred! He is a sweet Teddy Bear Sh*tzu that had been training for Service Dog work! When Fred first came to us he had a stubborn streak, was not food motivated and only trained when he wanted to. He has progressed so much in just a few months! We have found treats he enjoys so training has become much more fun and successful! Fred's stubborn streak is gone and he is eager to train alone and with other dogs (previously he didn't like to train with others). Fred has started public access work and has excelled and maintained "Place" even with distractions and people talking around him. He is truly a Super Star and one of the sweetest, most gentle and friendly dogs I have ever trained. I look forward to having Fred fully trained in the coming months and him blessing his owner's life with his specialized tasks and bringing joy and happiness to our community as a whole!!

Meet Akumaru (Aku)! This handsome devil is a Husky/Akita mix and couldn't be sweeter. We originally were called to do an initial evaluation/temperament test/basic obedience session. He unfortunately got put of his home and had a run in with the neighbors chickens and it ended badly for the chickens.

Due to concerns for any potential aggressiveness I agreed to perform various temperment tests with my male training counterpart, Doug, to ensure everyone's safety.

I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Aku was eager to learn, very food and praise motivated and a genuinely sweet and friendly pup. Doug and I walked into their home without introductions and Aku showed no aversion or aggressiveness. He was very playful and did jump up a bit but that was corrected quickly.

We did basic obedience during his session (leash walking, sit, down, stay, here, out, wait, watch and touch), switched him to a properly-fitted martingale collar from an ill-fitted prong collar and got him a crossbody leash and heavy-duty harness (per the request of her neighbor with chickens) and took him on a walk around busy streets, through gas station parking lots, down an alley with barking dogs and through a massive crowd of kids in a parking lot across the street from her house. He had the best manners and never barked, growled, pulled, lunged or showed any behavior of concern. He even left the plate of pizza on the ground when instructed "Out" when he saw it lying there like a free tasty snack just for him!

He also started E-collar training for his recall and did fantastic even just starting on using vibrate. Auberin and I discussed options to help Aku get some of his instinctive exploration energy out and ways to prevent him from getting out in the future.

Aku was so docile he even oh so gently took a treat from my teeth and allowed me to give him food and then take it back with no food aggression whatsoever. I was so impressed by this sweet boy!

Next training session the following week was at my training location so we could continue to work on basic obedience, E-collar training, whistle training and even the use of ultrasonic hand controllers to deter Aku from stealing food items and eating household plants. He worked on performing sit stay and down stay with distraction (outside with noise from a busy street, several people talking and dogs barking). He did fantastic! He also worked on long distance recall since he came to our training location that has a solid 6 foot fence surrounding the premises. He practiced with a loud yellow of "Aku HERE!", calling using the vibrate on the E-collar and then calling with a specialty dog whistle. He excelled in all 3 ways versions of recall, even when he had toys and was in the middle of playing with them. He dropped what he was doing and immediately went back to Auberin when called. I look forward to continuing training with Aku and Auberin!! Watch for follow up posts to follow his progress!

Truly "Pampered Pup Services'!!!
At the vendor show on the 2nd floor of the Raymond Center. Pups were extremely hot so Doug used an ice pack on Storm's forehead and sat on the ground to fan both Peanut and Storm. Gunny is lying on the ground in the background watching the whole thing take place! We love all the pups that come to us just as much as we love our own!!

Great Saturday at the Raymond Center Vendor Show! I got two adorable photos done by the talented Ashley Raad (www.raadphotos.com) with 2 of my Service Dogs (Peanut and Raiden). Everyone please meet Chevy! He's currently learning all the basics and working hard to potentially be a service dog in the future for his mama!!!! He's just the sweetest little guy with BIG BOY attitude!!! He's really catching on fast even with his natural stubborn "I do what I want" chihuahua personality.

Everyone please welcome Gunny!!!! Gunny has been working hard for his dad who is a veteran and wheelchair bound. He's an amazing sweet and smart boy that loves to work! He needed a 4 day/3 night refresher course for various obedience commands and touch up on public access to work on his focus and reduce his socializing. He has done absolutely amazing in just a couple days time! He also got to do his first restaurant outing which went fantastic! Due to being loose leash attached to a wheelchair he struggled with handheld leash walking and walking nicely on stairs (in the case his dad was hospitalized and someone needed to help care for him). His vocalization had reduced significantly as well. His obedience work has really improved and he's responding immediately to commands instead of when he wants or having you repeat the command. So proud of this guy for his progress and all the hard work he put in! Watch the videos below to see his fantastic progress!!!

Meet Gunny! He's part of a Service Dog team and is currently with us for a 4 day/3 night refresher course! Gunny was known as a social-path (wanted to greet everyone even when not appropriate timing), did refresher on obedience, calm on command and restaurant work. We worked on his vocalizing at the home and his impatience with sitting or lying in one spot for a long period of time. We also worked on loud sound reactivity and working in extremely tight spaces and through crowds. Note: the pup on my left wearing orange is my Service Dog. Gunny is on my right in camo.

Meet Branch!!!! He came for a vacation stay and to do 4 training sessions. He is an amazingly sweet boy but had horrible anxiety. He hyper salivates badly and was terrified being crated. After a week of staying with us and 4 training sessions he is now content in his crate and goes in willingly and stays without salivating. He has also worked a lot on basic obedience and does well alone and has stop hyper salivating and anxiety pacing all day. We worked on properly and calmly greeting new people, not jumping on people, leash walking and various other basic obedience commands. He has really mellowed out in such a short period of time and now enjoys time to himself instead of experiencing such severe anxiety. He also was initially too rambunctious around small dogs even leashed and now he can train with several pups at once when leashed- off leash is still a work in progress. Great job Branch!! You did phenomenal for only 4 training sessions and a week of vacation stay with us!!!!
