Hope all the great fathers had a wonderful Father’s Day! 🥳🔨🏆

25 years ago my Dad had a vision of what he wanted his breeding program to look like. He knew what he wanted the horses to be able to do. He wanted equal parts speed, strength, resilience, and intelligence. He wanted them to excel in both ends of the arena. He wanted to create a legacy of bloodlines that would stand the test of time. His vision has truly come to life, and I am so thankful he is able to witness it.

Last weekend he and my mom were able to watch 4 horses with MP bloodlines win or place to kick off the summer run on the Cowboy Channel, plus many more at other events across the country.

Linsay Sumpter will be the guest speaker at the 32 Annual National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Alumni Reunion luncheon June 14 at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center in Casper, Wyoming.

NIRA Alumni will honor all the NIRA national champions, championship teams, top finishers, queens, coaches, and faculty and student presidents for the years ending in “4” 1954, 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004, and 2014. The reunion is held in conjunction with the College National Finals Rodeo.

Sumpter is a third-generation member of the Rosser Rodeo family, granddaughter of Hall of Fame cowboy Cotton Rosser. She grew up engrained in the western lifestyle and helped in all aspects of the productions of rodeos for the family’s Flying U Company.

She was a former collegiate rodeo competitor for California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo (CNFR 03,04), and continues to impress as a professional breakaway roping competitor and a Mountain States Circuit Finals qualifier.

In addition to being Head Rodeo Coach for Otero College, she coaches on BreakAwayRoping.com, and is the assistant coach for Kid Rock's Rocken Rodeo Team Free Riders. Sumpter also serves as Commissioner for the Women’s Rodeo World Championship, the largest all-female rodeo in the world. Outside of the arena,

Sumpter, who holds a master’s degree in mass communication, is married to six-time National Finals Rodeo qualifying steer wrestler Wade Sumpter and the proud mother of two.

Her dad, Lee Rosser was a member of the 1973 NIRA Champion Men's Team-Cal Poly and was recognized at last year's NIRA Alumni Reunion. Her grandfather, the late Cotton Rosser was runner-up to the NIRA All Around Cowboy honors in 1949 and 1951. He also attended Cal Poly. Cotton was recognized at the 2021 NIRA Alumni Reunion. The 4th Place NIRA Alumni, Inc. men's team scholarship is given in memory of Cotton by his wife Karin Rosser at the College National Finals Rodeo this June in Casper.
