Patient Spotlight: Meet Princesa👑
Despite her name, this princess did not have an easy start to life. At only 5 months, she slipped and fell off her owner’s bed leaving her unable to walk on her right, hind leg and crying in pain when that leg was touched. 😢
Princesa’s mom initially took her to a 24-hour ER, but the ER had a long wait time due to a large number of severely ill patients. This sweet girl needed a different option, so she came to our Newark location. X-rays were soon taken showing Princesa’s leg was broken. 😯
Our caring team placed a splint on Princesa’s leg and prescribed pain medication. Over the next two months, Princesa came back to our Newark location for regular splint changes as her leg healed. 🥰
As an urgent care open every day from 10am-7pm, First State Urgent Vet provides a middle option between a general practice veterinarian and a 24-hour emergency hospital. Like a true fairy tale princess, Princessa is now living happily ever after!👑

🍂🐾 Thanksgiving is a time for delicious meals and gathering with loved ones, but some holiday foods can pose serious risks to your pets! 🦃🚫 Keep them safe by avoiding:
❌ Turkey Bones – These can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries.
❌ Fatty Foods – Items like turkey skin or gravy can lead to painful pancreatitis.
❌ Stuffing – Often seasoned with toxic ingredients like onions, garlic, or herbs.
❌ Desserts – Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are highly toxic to pets.
