🐾🌟Patient Spotlight: Meet Aurora!🌟🐾

While visiting Delaware all the way from sunny Arizona, Aurora's family faced a bit of a surprise during their trip – their beautiful pup was limping and had a lump on her left front leg! 😢 Finding a vet while traveling can be stressful, but that’s where we come in!

Luckily, Aurora's family found First State Urgent Vet and joined our online waitlist, bringing her right to our Newark location. Our dedicated team was ready to help, ensuring she was seen and treated quickly. ❤️

And despite the circumstances, we couldn’t get enough of Aurora’s sweet nature! This charming girl was a total sweetheart during her visit! ✨

We’re so glad we could assist Aurora and her family during this unexpected bump in their travels. Remember, wherever your adventures take you, we’re here for your furry friends when they need a helping paw! 🐶💕

🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from First State Urgent Vet! 🦃

Today we’re closed to celebrate with family, friends, and furry companions. We hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday filled with love, laughter, and maybe a few turkey treats for your pets!

11/27/2024

🍂🐾 Thanksgiving is a time for delicious meals and gathering with loved ones, but some holiday foods can pose serious risks to your pets! 🦃🚫 Keep them safe by avoiding:

❌ Turkey Bones – These can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries.
❌ Fatty Foods – Items like turkey skin or gravy can lead to painful pancreatitis.
❌ Stuffing – Often seasoned with toxic ingredients like onions, garlic, or herbs.
❌ Desserts – Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are highly toxic to pets.
Protect your furry friends this holiday season! ❤️🐶🐱

🚨 Holiday Hours:
We’re closed on Thanksgiving Day but will be open regular hours (10 AM – 7 PM) the day before and after. If your pet needs urgent care, we’re here for you! 🩺✨

👻Halloween Pet Safety Tips🎃

As the spooky season unfolds, it’s time to embrace the festive spirit! While we all enjoy the thrills of Halloween, our furry friends may not share the same excitement. To ensure a howling good time for both pets and humans, here are four essential safety tips.

🍫No Tricks, Just Treats—Keep Candy Away!: Chocolate, raisins and sugar-free candies containing xylitol are toxic to pets. Make sure all treats are kept in a secure place where pets can't access them.

🎀Dress to Impress, But Keep It Stress-Free!: If you dress up your pet, ensure their costume fits properly and doesn’t restrict movement, breathing, or vision. Avoid small accessories that could be chewed off and swallowed.

🏠Creep it Real: Keep Pets Indoors!: The excitement of Halloween can be stressful for pets. Keep them indoors to prevent them from becoming frightened, lost, or exposed to pranks.

🕷️Watch Out for Those Spooky Decorations!: Curious pets may chew on electrical cords, pumpkins, or decorations, posing fire hazards or risk of injury. Make sure any decorations are safely out of their reach.
With a little preparation, you can enjoy a spook-tacular Halloween while keeping your pets happy, healthy, and stress-free.

🚨If your pet gets into any type of chocolate, raisins, or sugar-free candies, please head immediately to one of our First State Urgent Vet locations, where our skilled team will be ready to assist your pet.🩺
