A dedicated crew of volunteers working to assist Jack Russells in need in NC, SC, VA. Our volunteers care for young and old, healthy and sick Jack Russells.

Russell Rescue of the Carolinas is a network of volunteers dedicated to placing unwanted or abandoned Jack Russells into permanent homes. Our region is typically North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. We are routinely contacted by shelters for strays, owners needing to surrender, or other situations where we need to assist in the care, vetting, rehoming, and fostering of the terri

er. Each dog is vetted thoroughly and altered prior to placing in a home. Many of these dogs have injuries or illnesses that require substantial vet care that is not affordable to most. We are a registered 501c3, supported completely by donations, and your donations are tax deductible. Available for adoption: Izzy and Yogi!

Izzy and Yogi are a bonded pair of JRT mixes. They are 20 pounds and estimated to be 13 and 14 years old. Up to date on vaccines, Izzy is spayed, Yogi is intact and will not be neutered due to his adverse reaction to anesthesia. These pups do everything together. Izzy is Yogi's guide. Yogi can see up close but not so good far away so Izzy leads Yogi around. They both do good on leash and off. They like lots of lovin' and will let you know when they get hungry. Don't let the grey hair fool you - they still like adventures, just at a slower pace. Both of them do well with other dogs, chickens and cows. Izzy and Yogi love their Fresh Pet food mixed with some dry food and lots of treats (bacon flavor is their fav). When they are not on an adventure, they love their naps.

Winston is looking for a foster or foster to adopt. He is located in the Raleigh area. Winston is 10yo and although he has lived with a male four-legged family member for 8+ years, he prefers to be an only dog home.

Winston does have anxiety and would prefer a home that is low key without many visitors. Winston requires a home that understands the breed and can work with him on any introductions he may need, human or dog. He typically does well if a treat is involved and you go slowly.

Winston is up to date on all vaccines.

Mortie had surgery first thing this morning. Dr. P said he had a feisty little man on his hands for his condition, and removed a mass the size of a... Um... B Cup 🤦‍♀️🤣. The abscesses in his groin were caused by his own discomfort and chewing. 😭 Mortie looks like Frankenstein according to his foster mom, stitches from top to bottom. But we can guarantee that he sleeps much better this Christmas Eve.

Thank every single one of his angels who has contributed to his medical ($1200) and the medical for all of our kids. We've tried our best to handle the hard cases and provide healthy new lives for every dog that entered rescue. While we weren't always successful, and those cases broke our hearts, we know each of our foster kids has known all the love while with their RRC foster family. Thank YOU for helping us give them new chapters!

Hi supporters, It's the end of the year and I know that many of you are considering year-end giving for for tax purposes. We ask that you consider donating to Russell Rescue of the Carolina's towards our medical fund. We are a 501c3 non-profit. Over the past year, we have taken in more seniors That required medical above their adoption fees. We are so grateful to those of you who have set up monthly donations towards our rescue. Russell Rescue of the Carolinas exists and survives solely through donations, all funds coming from adoption fees and our supporters.

Please let us introduce to you our Christmas miracle, Russell! (Don't worry, he will be renamed!)

Russell came in as a stray to the Greenville County Animal Center in South Carolina. Russell is considered roughly 10 years old. He is up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. Unfortunately, Russell has a mass the size of a grapefruit attached to his chest. He also has several masses in the prepuce area. We knew as a rescue that this pup needed a chance. We are extremely thankful to members of the GCAC who were able to pull this dog for us, and wonderful supporters who initiated the transport early this morning to Presley Animal Hospital in Matthews, North Carolina.

Dr. P called us around noon to let us know that the mass was not attached to the chest cavity and could possibly be removed. The bleeding masses near his groin were abscesses that had been treated. Russell won the Christmas miracle! We decided to have him stay overnight for a sleepover and have surgery tomorrow to remove the mass.

We ask all of your prayers and well wishes for a successful surgery and long life. After Russell has healed, he will be available for adoption.

RRC foster kids Luke and Lady are looking for their forever homes (not together)❤️. Luke is a sweet terrier mix, approximately 10yo and 18.5 #. Lady is a sassy JRT weighing in at 12 #, and will be 9 in the spring. Both terriers are up to date on vaccines, altered, HW negative, microchipped, have had recent senior blood work, and dentals! Whew! What a gift to get a pup fully vetted!!!! Their adoption fees are $275. Both Luke and Lady are located in Wilmington, NC. They are good with other dogs, but Lady does not walk well on a leash. She was extremely feral when she came to rescue and now she loves nothing more than to be near her human. Lady would prefer another pup in the house while Luke doesn't mind being alone. Both want tons of scratches!!!!

Available for Adoption: Sir Luke!

Luke is a sweet senior boy who found himself in the shelter due to owner's indefinite incarceration. The shelter was told Luke was 14 but our vets are not as sure, putting him as young as 8, but, due to his clear eyesight and amazing hearing, are hesitant to put him higher than 10. The only items that put him into the potential senior category are some fatty lumps and creaky knees. He is the happiest boy, gets along well with all the pups and enjoys spending time running in the yard, taking treats from the neighbors or stalking squirrels. Luke is up to date on vaccines, chipped, HW- and will be getting both a neuter and dental prior to adoption! Luke's tail constantly wags and he will roll over when you approach him, always asking for the tummy tax! He is 18.5 # and is being fostered in Wilmington, NC. Available for Adoption: Calina!
Calina is currently being fostered in Wake Forest NC
Calina is a young female JRT mix. She is HW negative, spayed, UTD on vax, and microchipped. Her foster family says that she is a Unicorn - loves to snuggle, sit on your lap, lay in her doggie bed, and give kisses, but her favorite thing to do is lay on the porch in the sun! She loves to play with her JRT buddies Pickles (female) and Ralphie (male). Calina does have a smidge of puppiness left in her and loves to chew. With gentle redirection to her favorite dinosaur toy, she is doing great. She loves children but hasn't met any kitties yet. She is prey-driven so we don't think a home with a cat would be a good fit for her. Calina needs a tall fence, not wrought iron, that will give her a place to run safely. She is learning to walk on a leash and her potty training and is going great! If you are looking to add a fun playmate to your pack, Calina is your gal!

Yahtzee is currently being fostered in VA Beach, VA.
Yahtzee is a really fun, short 22 pound JRT mix. He is neutered, vaccinated, HW negative, and microchipped. Yahtzee loves most dogs and people. He walks well on a leash but is a little strong. His dream family would have a large fenced yard because he loves doing zoomies. Yahtzee also loves playing with tennis balls, riding in the car, and visiting coffee shops!

Tippy is currently being fostered in Hampstead, NC.

Tippy is spayed, microchipped, HW negative and up to date on her vaccines. She is still a puppy at 1 yo so she loves to play, play, and play some more! Tippy especially loves her stuffed Nemo and all balls. She loves to go on walks - there is so much to see and smell! Tippy can jump a 4 ft fence so she needs to be supervised outside at all times or a home with a TALLER fence 😁 She loves older kids but is a dominant dog so will need a home with no other dogs (or one willing to help her with her socialization skills).

Skippy is currently being temp fostered in Midlothian, VA. He would really like to get out of boarding and into a home❤

Skippy is a young at heart 11 yo lad with a lot of life and love to give. He acts more like a 2 yo than 11 yo. He can do zoomies with the best of them! His teeth are beautiful and he is extremely clean in his kennel. Skippy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, HW negative and microchipped. He is as sweet as can be and lives to please. He rides wonderfully in the car, plays fetch and sits for treats. Skippy does need to be the ONLY pup in your home because he's protective of food and his people. His ideal home would have a fenced yard because he is leash reactive. If you could open your heart to Skippy, I promise you will not regret it.
