Val grew up in Maine, where she rode and showed in barrel racing, pole bending, western pleasure, and hunter under saddle. She first set foot in the show pen when she was just 6 years old, in the lead line class, which she won. Since then, Val has spent the last 19 years successfully riding and showing horses. Val attened the University of Findlay, where she graduated with an Associates of Arts de

gree, with a Western Riding Emphasis. In 2007, she placed 2nd at the IHSA National Championship Show in Intermediate Horsemanship. After graduating from Findlay, Val moved to Montana to work for Jay Dee Anderson, in Wilsall, Mt, where she worked for a year. Val spent the next 4 years employed by Brackett Creek Quarter Horses in Wilsall. In the 4 years Val was employed by BCQH, she showed reining horses successfully. Some accomplishments are; 2008 Hungary Horse Reining Show Rookie Pro Champion, 2008 MRHA Rookie Pro Affiliate Champion, 2009 YRHA Rookie Pro Year-end Champion, 2010 MRHA Rookie Pro Year-end Champion, 2010 YRHA Limited Open Reserve Champ Year-end, 2010 NRHA Mountain Region Affiliate Finals Rookie Pro Champion, 2010 NRHA Mountain Region Affiliate Finals Limited Open Champion, 2011 Big Sky Classic Stallion Stakes Futurity Champion, 2011 High Roller Reining Classic L1 Futurity Champion, 2011 High Roller Reining Classic L2 Futurity Champion, 2011 Big Sky Classic Reserve Champion L2 Derby. Val Specializes in reining training for futurity and derby horses, and giving non pro lessons. Full-time and part-time training, a variety of boarding options, and private and group lessons are just a few of the options offered. Stop by or call for more info.

I am so proud of these 2 ladies! Heidi and Kathy both stepped outside their comfort zone last week and went with me to the NCRHA Futurity and Derby show in St Paul, MN!
They both ended the show in the top 10 of the Green Reiner, and had their best rides of the season!

My heart hurts for my home state of Maine tonight. 💔 praying for the people in Lewiston and the families who’s live have been forever changed. Praying for all the first responders who were involved in the horrific incident. Most of all praying for all LEOs safety and ability to catch this SOB before anyone else gets hurt. 🖤💙🖤

Although we were excited and ready to go show this week at the futrnova show in Claresholm Alberta, Mother Nature had other plans for us. Due to the extreme winter weather conditions both here and up north we made the very hard decision to stay home and ride it out in the safety of our own barn. We are very disappointed, but know that we made the right decision for the safety and well being of both horses and humans.

Pearls Lil Dunit owned by Janyce Hoyt is gearing up for the coming show season! “Opal” is a 5 year old mare by PFD x Black Pearl Parnelli

Wow! What a week we had at the West Coast Reining Association Year End Show in Rancho Murieta, CA! To say we made the trip worth while is an understatement! Val and Katie (co-owned by Val and Sharon Gelhaus) started the show off big by winning the NRHA Open, NRHA Intermediate Open, and NRHA Limited open! That was followed the next day by Val and Katie being the L1 Open Derby Champion and L4 Open Derby Reserve Champion behind good friend Mike McEntire! Between the 2 rides, Katie added another $4200 to her LTE! Added to what she won in Idaho last week, Katie won over $5000 this trip and pushed her LTE to $23,500!! Val and Pearls Lil Dunit (Opal) had a great ride in the Open Derby as well and ended up 3rd in the L1 Open Derby and Reserve Champion in the L4 Novice Horse Derby and added another $800 to Opal’s LTE for owner Janyce Hoyt!! What a way to finish the season! ❤️
