Hello everyone...
A little lengthy but I wanted to share

This is how I crate train the puppies I keep, as well as any I may acquire for my program. I use a puppy play pen to contain them when I'm busy, during the day,and can't keep an eye on them.
Do they cry because they want to be with me? Yes but I talk to them and say ... You will be fine.The whining only lasts a little while. As I do my house work, they see me walk by,but I don't let them out till I'm done.
They will have food, water, soft toys and a hard chew toy (appropriate for their age), as well as a towel if they want to nap. The puppy pad is down too in case they need to potty.
At night they sleep in this pen as well, but I make it smaller by folding in some of the panels. I put them to bed at 8:45 because I they will protest for a bit. I remove all toys except for a soft toy for snuggles. By the time I'm ready to go to bed they are usually down for the night.
When they go about 2 nights in a row and the morning routine starts ... where there's no #1 or #2 on the puppy pad I put them in a regular crate.
Tonight is the first night for these two in their own "room "...they walked into the crates (on their own)at 9:00 pm to go to bed. No whining or crying, first night sleeping by themselves.
