We certainly don’t have a commercial farm set up. But we’ve got some great heart and soul in this.

All done with piglets until spring!
Proud of these crazy kids.

Everyone who meets them is surprised and impressed! As am I.

Beautiful and tiring! Ha.

Kids built a homemade ice rink..

Pretty wild that we are still not at 100% health over here after almost a month of solid sickness. I cannot seem to fight that energy back like before. Kids are still struggling. Manifesting leaving this crap all here in 2024.

Just eating and living as healthy and clean as possible right now. Supplementing with as much homemade and herbal stuff as possible. Trying to stay outside as much as we can.

Phew. Bring on 2025.

Merry Christmas! ❤️

RACOON TESTS POSITIVE FOR RABIES IN NORTH STONINGTON

A RACOON FOUND ON CEDAR DRIVE IN THE TOWN OF NORTH STONINGTON WAS TESTED AND FOUND TO BE POSITIVE FOR RABIES ON DECEMBER 9, 2024. THE PUBLIC SHOULD REFRAIN FROM FEEDING OR APPROACHING ANY WILD OR STRAY ANIMALS.

Rabies is a deadly disease caused by a virus that can infect all warm-blooded animals, including people. It is spread mostly by wild animals, but stray cats and dogs may also become infected and spread the virus. The rabies virus lives in the saliva and brain tissue of infected animals. Rabies can be spread by scratches from infected animals or when infected saliva comes into contact with open wounds, breaks in the skin or mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth, etc.)

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ledge Light Health District at 860-448-4882 or the NORTH STONINGTON ANIMAL CONTROL at 860-287-2197.

Pigs aren’t like other livestock.
Whether you raise or meat or not….

They NEED good bedding.

These boys are a HARDY breed and they were still shaking a bit this morning. They need eachother to keep warm, they need a good wind break and they need bedding. It’s a must this time of year.

They’re just the kindest boys ever.

Slushy snow- and snowman fun. 🥰

The first American cookbook was "American Cookery" by Amelia Simmons, published in 1796 in Connecticut. Despite Christmas not being widely celebrated in New England at this time, Simmons included a receipt (recipe) for a simple "Christmas Cookey," writing: "To three pound flour, sprinkle a tea cup of fine powdered coriander seed, rub in one pound butter, and one and half pound sugar, dissolve three tea spoonfuls of pearl ash in a tea cup of milk, kneed all together well, roll three quarters of an inch thick, and cut or stamp into shape and size you please, bake slowly fifteen or twenty minutes; tho’ hard and dry at first, if put into an earthern pot, and dry cellar, or damp room, they will be finer, softer and better when six months old."

Old Pepe has outlived all expectations for captive emus and at 58 years the bird is still going strong, but he did lose his best friend, a goat.
