The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office extends our condolences to the SLED K-9 team for the loss today of K-9 Rico during the officer-involved shooting of an armed and dangerous suspect on Johns Island. He was a good boy. May he rest in peace. 🌈 🐾

Master Deputy James Gilbreath, who was shot last night by the suspect, has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
