The main gate is closed and also the West entrance on Como. There is a race going on at that end of the fairgrounds. We recommend using the gate on Como Ave. where the horse trailer & rigs are. Another way is by the college.

New Championship Horse Show Announced for 2025

LEXINGTON, KY [June 6, 2024] - The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) announced today the creation of a New Horse Show Exploratory Committee, led by co-chairs Smith Lilly and Joe O’Brien, whose purpose is to create an exciting new championship horse show in 2025 for the show horse industry, owned by the industry. The new horse show will be organized under a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

“For many years, the question has been asked, ‘Why don’t we create our own show?’,” said Allen Bosworth, president of the ASHBA Board of Directors. “The time to answer that question is here, and the answer is, ‘2025 can’t get here fast enough!’”

“This one-of-a-kind show experience will be designed to showcase the beauty, athleticism, and versatility of the show breeds and foster the growth of passionate enthusiasts committed to these breeds for generations to come,” said Lilly. “We will celebrate excellence in horsemanship as we build this show on the pillars of innovation, hospitality, integrity and safety.”

“In order to produce the world’s greatest championship horse show experience, it’s vital that we listen to our owners, exhibitors and trainers – not just now, but always,” O’Brien said. “To that end, we need your help. Your input is important in helping create a show that our industry has long desired and deserved.”

Please help by filling out the new championship horse show survey, below. You have until June 20 to complete the survey, and your feedback will be kept anonymous.

“The committee members will use your feedback as guidance for creating the new show, said David Mount, executive director of ASHBA. “We also plan to conduct town halls at horse shows later this summer and this fall. If you have an idea for the show after the survey deadline, please email it to [email protected].”

NEW FUTURITY CLASS SYSTEM FOR 2022

In an effort to make it easier to enter young horse futurity classes at the Minnesota Saddlebred State Championship Horse Show, we are changing the system and moving away from a formal nomination process this year. If you are interested in showing a weanling, yearling or 2-year-old, you now can enter these classes with the rest of your Minnesota Saddlebred State Championship Horse Show entries. You will not be required to pre-nominate.
The Minnesota Saddlebred State Championship Horse Show will be held at the Minnesota Equestrian Center in Winona, Minnesota October 14 - 16, 2022.

ENTRY INFO:

$200 entry fee for all classes with the jackpot paid out 100%. Exhibitors must be members of MSHA ( $45 one time membership fee if not already a member).

1st place: 30%
2nd place: 25%
3rd place: 20%
4th place: 15%
5th place: 7%
6th place: 3%

All unplaced money will be divided evenly among the entries.

* Weanling In Hand Amateur Championship

* Yearling In Hand Open Championship

* Yearling In Hand Amateur Championship

2-year-old In Hand Open Championship

Class rules will remain the same as previous years.
