Offered on consignment, Some Like It Scenic (“Cookie”) is a 2013 APHA registered mare with striking color, proven bloodlines, and a great foundation. She’s currently in tune-up training and showing real promise for returning to the show pen.

Cookie is bred to perform—sired by Scenic Rio Krymsun (by One Hot Krymsun) and out of Scenic Hot Invitation (by By Appointment Only). This well-bred sorrel overo mare has both the looks and the lineage for the all-around, ranch, or pleasure classes.

She’s best suited for an intermediate rider or above who can continue her momentum and guide her back into a consistent show program. She’s respectful on the ground, soft under saddle, and shows plenty of try!

Does your horse brace or pull back when tied?

Bullet did too, but not anymore. With the help of the treadmill, he’s learned to give to halter pressure and stay calm and relaxed.

This tool allows us to work through resistance in a safe, controlled way while teaching valuable lessons that translate to better ground manners and confidence.

Send us a message if you have a horse that needs this kind of support!

If there was something new that you could do with your horse what would it be?

Teach your horse to stand, and save yourself the hassle!

A horse that stands ground tied while you brush and saddle makes everything easier. No more fumbling with a lead rope, repositioning them every few minutes, or dealing with unnecessary movement.

When a horse learns to be responsible for staying put, it takes the pressure off you. Instead of constantly correcting, you can trust them to do their job while you do yours. The result? Less work, less frustration, and a horse that’s truly a partner.

Spring is in the air, and that means more time in the arena! The arena is freshly drug, the sun is shining, and the horses are ready to get back to working outside. Warmer weather brings the perfect opportunity to refine skills, build confidence, and enjoy every ride. Who else is excited for longer days in the saddle?

I get a lot of inquiries from folks looking for a broke horse, but I often find that people have different ideas of what “broke” really means. I have found that there are two main types of “broke” horses, and understanding the difference can make a world of difference in finding the right match for you.

🔹 Handy Broke Horses:
These are the horses that excel in responsiveness, agility, and precision. A handy broke horse is trained to handle quick movements and tight turns, making them ideal for ranch work, roping, cutting, or any task where you need a horse that can move with speed and accuracy. They are incredibly smart, responsive to the slightest cues, and can be a bit more “on edge” in terms of their energy. These horses are best suited for someone who has experience riding and can keep up with their quick reactions.

🔹 Gentle Broke Horses:
On the flip side, a gentle broke horse is calm, steady, and patient. These horses are usually bombproof, meaning they are un-phased in almost any situation. They are often perfect for beginners or people who want a horse that is easy-going and forgiving. Gentle broke horses are great for relaxed trail rides, leisurely riding, or just bonding with your horse in a calm setting. They may not be as quick to react as handy broke horses, but they make up for it with their consistency and ease of handling.

🧐 So, which one is right for you?
If you’re looking for a horse to help you with performance, work tasks, or something that requires agility, a handy broke horse is probably your best bet. But if you’re after a steady, safe, and gentle partner for leisurely riding or bonding, then a gentle broke horse is the way to go.

A true partnership with a horse isn’t about micromanaging every step. It is about teaching them to think, respond, and take responsibility for their choices.

When we set clear, fair expectations, our horses learn that their actions have consequences (good and bad).Did they move off your leg softly? Reward them. Did they barge through your space? Help them understand that’s not the right answer.

The more we allow them to make decisions, and help direct them toward the decisions we desire them to make the more confident and willing they become. Trust isn’t built through control; it’s built through communication.

What’s the Biggest Lesson Your Horse Has Ever Taught You?

Horses have an amazing way of teaching us more than just riding skills, they often offer life lessons that stick with us long after we’ve left the barn. Whether it’s patience, trust, or the power of quiet leadership, there’s always something they can teach us if we’re open to it.
