Happy New Year! It's beautiful to see our community coming together to support our brother fighting the big fight. Brian, you have a huge army behind you. For most, you got us started.

Here is a surprise I had. One egg, pied het. DG. All other eggs were slugs, and Dad was het pied. LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.

A few weeks ago we tested the entire collection for Nidovirus and everyone is negative. After multiple testing rounds we finally have reached a point where we can continue. It's been a tough journey but it needed to be done to ensure can continue in this hobby. We are back! Now let's get back to work.

Nido update. I haven't been post lately mainly because I haven't been taking new pictures trying to reduce potential for other animals to get contaminated. Sadly, today I dropped off 3 to be euthanized as the quality of life was declining. I felt it was the most responsible thing to do. The entire collection has been completely tested and results have come in. In total so far 8 were positive out of close to 40 animals. 4 positives are still in my care, in quarantined area of course. They are still eating and I haven't decided they course of action for them yet. 2 more rounds of testing to go before I can be certain the virus has not spread further. ☀️

A few weeks ago I noticed some of my animals showed sign of bring sick. Signs of bubbles from the mouth, tilting of the head, wheezing. I recognized these signs as a Respiratory infection. At the time it was only 2 showing these signs and that same night I drove 1.5 hours to obtain antibiotics for them. After going through my collection others were also showing minor signs of R.I. Making my total 5. The newer 3 went to another vet, in which they told me they wanted to test for the Nidovirus. Those 3 were tested and yesterday I found out those results were positive for Nidovirus. There no solution to Nido. No treatment nor Vaccine to help. My only solution is to euthanize those that test positive. I'm not certain how this virus was introduced to my collection but I'm afraid that this virus has been dormant in my collection for sometime. The scariest part is that nidovirus can be asymptomatic. I encourage everyone to test for Nido and have protocols in place to avoid the same mistake I did. I'm sharing my experience because too many collections are getting quietly wiped out by the virus. Keepers not wanting to share and continue to sell. We will NOT be selling anything until further notice. I will continue to share my experience and updates. Hopefully I'm not empty handed at the end of this but the truth is I might lose everything I've worked so hard for and I'm terrified.
