Hi, I am presently an infant-Senior (human) Occupational Therapy Practitioner with 25+ years experience and an Advanced CranioSacral Therapist with 10+ years experience. I also have a Professional Certificate in Animal Assisted Therapy through Community College of RI. Because of my passion for dogs, I extended my education to become a Certified Myo-Manipulative Functional Therapist (CMFT), a Certified Canine Craniosacral Technique Therapist (CCCTT) and Certified in Animal Cold Laser Therapy. In order to earn my certifications in these courses, I was required to complete multiple video presentations, including 4 video case studies which required gait analysis, ROM, vitals, past and present medical history, current areas of concern and detailed massage, craniosacral and cold laser, including Acupoint, techniques being used in each session. Each case study also required results, both post session and later sessions, as well as recommended home program including ROM, stretching and any home/environment/activity modifications. I was also required to complete a total of 8 comprehensive written case studies following the same requirement, as well as a total of over 170+ hours and 50+ of volunteer hands-on hours. I completed my certifications through Angelโ€™s Animals Holistic Studies and Seminars and earned โ€œTop Practitionerโ€. I was also chosen as โ€œPractitioner of the Monthโ€ for April 2024.
I consult with each owner prior to booking any sessions in order to ensure there are no contraindications and that they have consulted with their dogโ€™s veterinarian regarding approval for their dog to receive massage, craniosacral and cold laser ( if indicated). If I have any concerns, I request permission to consult with their veterinarian. If their dog is a candidate for my services, I educate them on what to expect and how to prepare their dog for their initial session. Their initial session consists of an overall evaluation, assessing the dogโ€™s general condition and ensuring their dogโ€™s comfort and establishing a rapport. I offer discounts for senior dogs, service dogs and rescues. The initial session is considered a consult and can range from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on the dogs comfort level. If the dog and owner want to continue as a client, subsequent sessions will be scheduled as appropriate and will depend on the history, evaluation, and hands-on feedback of the animal during the initial session. Appropriate at home recommendations will be made after each session. If requested, written reports can be provided as necessary. Professional memberships and Insurance
I am a member of the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork/Association of Canine Water Therapy (IAAMB/ACWT) which entitles me to be insured by Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP).
Benefits and Limitations
I do not provide Canine Rehabilitation. My sessions are focused on your dogs wellness and wellbeing.
My goals are to provide canine massage, craniosacral and cold laser therapy, as appropriate, to each of my canine clients that is approved and complementary to regular veterinary care. I also aim to educate the dog(s) owners, within my scope of practice, so they can recognize potential areas of concern and follow up with their veterinarian and/or other professional care providers.
Please note that I am not a veterinarian, a veterinary technician/ assistant or a canine rehabilitation practitioner.
I do not make diagnosis and/or treat injuries, illnesses, or diseases. Clients who seek my services for their dog(s) after an injury or illness must provide written veterinary clearance. When concerns are noted, clients will be directed to seek appropriate care from their veterinarian and/or other professional care providers if recommended.
