I took Promise to the Donida Summer Show this past weekend. She sat out last season (2022), because I discovered she had gastric ulcers, and she was clearly in a lot of pain. We focused on getting her healthy and happy and then went back to basics (for her this means lots of suppling, relaxation, and connection). I'm so happy with the progress she's made; Saturday was a bit rough; she was too frisky in the show ring, and I just had to try not to upset her too much. But Sunday, boy did we have FUN. She was so willing and ridable. We scored a 68% at Second Level Test 3. I'm so happy with how the show went and looking forward to the next show, Donida in July.

I’ve been at the Kentucky Horse Park this week for the Makeover and it’s been inspirational to see what everyone has been able to accomplish with their OTTBs across diverse disciplines.

Paige Ruhl Clinic at Topline Equestrian Center today! I just love Paige's energetic, fun and positive attitude. I admire her so much and her instruction makes me feel motivated; great things are possible if I just keep working hard.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, I have been reflecting on how grateful I am that I get to spend my time doing what I love; riding horses and experiencing the joy of successes small and large with my clients. I'm excited to be participating the USDF "L Program" and busy thinking about, and preparing for, the 2022 show season. I'm thankful for my family, my lovely clients, and my wonderful horsey community for their support.

WEC July Seriatim show is a wrap. I can't say enough good things about the Whidbey Island Equestrian Center, I just love the facility, the show staff/volunteers, and the fellow competitors. Promise and I achieved our goal of qualifying to perform a First Level musical freestyle. We will spend the off season getting it ready and plan to perform it next spring.

Equestrian's Institute Chablis - Beaujolais show at Donida Farm. 66% for HS Lakoda's Promise both days (Training Level Test 3). She struggled with tension both days; it was a very busy show but for her first time in such a hot and active environment, she held herself together pretty well.

Woohoo! First show of the season a success! Promise received a 65% and 68% at Training Level at Whidbey Equestrian Center. This was her first show and she's been in dressage training since January.
