✨ Personal Dog Spotlight✨

Many of you already know and love him! D&C's Doug! Miranda's constant sidekick and demo dog, he is the son of Scooter and Momma Ava who was in the spotlight last week. He is the perfect example of excellent Malinois genetics: a lovable goofball in life, drive for days, and a gangster in protection work. He accompanies Miranda to lessons and group classes to be an example, a distraction, to socialize with and balance other dogs, and to sneak treats from clients when Miranda is busy teaching. His hobbies are soliciting pets from anyone he can, biting bad guys, going on trail rides with his horse friends and sleeping with all four legs in the air. If you catch us out and about, come say Hi!

D&C ‘s Personal Dog Spotlight 🌟

Ava af Viljestark was Christina’s foundation female in learning tracking, obedience and protection work. She taught her so many life lessons that carry on to every dog she works to this day. Never will be another that can replace her. Ava was also the foundation female for D&C’s breeding program. Often referred to as the Mother of Dragons 🐉, she was vital in producing and raising very strong Belgian Malinois for our lineage. Strong, resilient and hardest biting female we’ve ever come across. Took out every helper In her youth with her last minute shotgun blast through the sleeve. She will always be remembered through her many children and grandchildren out there killing it today in police, sport and alternative venues of work. Momma Ava 💜

Rocky is Jake’s first personal dog. He got him 3 months prior to going to dog training school. Rocky has made him a better trainer in multiple ways. From the moment he got him Rockys challenged Jake to become a more patient, and effective dog trainer. Rockys intelligence and energy required Jake to constantly adapt and improve his skills. Learning the importance of consistency, and understanding canine behavior making him a better trainer for Rocky and any dog he works with in the future.

D&C’s Personal Dog Spotlight:

Shiva is the reason Miranda is a professional dog trainer. She got her sight unseen from a friend of a friend. Shiva was full of energy and intensity, which led to Miranda seeking professional help, which has led to her 10 year career as a trainer. These days Shiva is retired and spends most of her time lying outside in the sun or on her very own loveseat. Occasionally she will get called back to work to teach manners to rowdy puppies.

With all of the severe weather that has occured recently throughout Tennessee and all over the country, we want to take the opportunity to express how important it is for your dog to feel comfortable and safe in a crate. Natural disasters, car accidents and veterinary emergencies can strike in an instant! Crates can keep dogs safe and even save lives in some situations as well as greatly improve rescue efforts, if needed. Don't add stress to an already difficult situation and get those pups crate trained!

If you’re SUPER bored here’s a full bh obedience prep training session completely unedited. Why the full session? 1) We get asked about it daily from people that do not get to travel here (how long the sessions are, how much play, how do we reward, etc). We promise you there is no magical or secret training going on😂 Just smart and deliberate work. 2) The most important reason. Forever almost everyone we meet has an unrealistic expectation of what training really looks like. If your training session is perfect you’re hiding from issues, helping too much, or making it way too easy. All the social media highlight videos and only showing the good has really warped people’s minds to what training actually looks like. 3) You don’t need a special heeling stick, a magical e collar, a special toy, five spotters with three lines attached to your dog, and you don’t need to stop every two seconds to make them bark to stay excited. Just be smart, be deliberate, be clear, and most importantly have fun with your dog. If you both don’t love it then why the heck do you train? Here she shows us she’s thinking about out of motions that we’ve been working way too much. She showed us we look down for the platz command which we will address because she almost did it twice while heeling. She also has no problem with the gas pedal, but we need to work the breaks on the recall 😂 🍻

Daly is a girl that loves to play, but often is a little too enthusiastic about it. Inappropriate behavior, even though well-intentioned can easily cause a dog fight. Atlas, who is dominant, but very tolerant of females was on hand to teach this pup some manners. Can you spot his use of social pressure to calm her down?
