❤❤❤Paying It Forward: Compassion in Action – Day 6 ❤❤❤

As a foster-based rescue without a physical building, finding space to store supplies and donations, assemble raffle baskets, and prepare for fundraisers can be a challenge. At crucial times, our amazing volunteers have generously offered their basements, garages, and spare bedrooms to meet our needs. While we deeply appreciate everyone who has opened their homes to help, we decided it was time to look for a more suitable space.

Thanks to our incredible network, we found the perfect solution. Nan Brennan, our very own superstar realtor, made an amazing connection, and to our astonishment, a sponsor has graciously donated the rent for this new space. We officially moved in on July 1! Words cannot express how grateful we are to this anonymous donor for their kindness.

Unfortunately, like so many others, our donor’s life has been touched by cancer. While we keep them in our hearts and prayers, we also wanted to take action. In their honor, the rescue is making a donation to the Cancer Research Institute, supporting the fight for a cure for this devastating disease.

Stay tuned as we continue to pay it forward in meaningful ways throughout our community!

Good with kids: Yes
Good with dogs: Unknown
Good with cats: Yes
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Iris (3.5 months, tabby) is the tiniest of her friends but makes up for it with a BIG personality! She came into rescue at less than a week old, and even back then, she had a feisty spirit. This little firecracker is always on the go, playfully stalking her toys (or the occasional stolen sock) with a confident growl. She loves a good play session and will happily keep you company, snuggled in your arms while you work at the computer.

Puddles (4 months, white) was paired with Iris a few weeks later, and their bond was instant. While she’s a bit bigger, she quickly learned to keep up with Iris’s playful ankle nips and wrestling moves! Puddles adores her buddy Iris and has a soft side too—she loves kneading her little paws on cozy blankets. She’s as sweet as they come, always ready for cuddles.

Together, Iris and Puddles make an irresistible team, full of love, play, and sweetness. They’re ready to bring twice the joy and laughter to their forever home!

Please keep in mind that a family pet takes work and dedication, as well as many years of commitment. If Iris & Puddles sound like the perfect fit for you, the first step would be to please fill out an application at https://linktr.ee/Wildandfreerescue.

Virginia is a brave little pup who, along with her three siblings, was found abandoned in a ditch, underweight and full of parasites. Thankfully, they were rescued and taken to the vet for care. With patience and love, Virginia will surely blossom into a loyal and loving companion.

Nancy & Albert - The Dust Bunnies
Nancy has been in the rescue since she was only a tiny 6 oz, and for a while, she was an only child, soaking up all the love and attention. She quickly became a little snuggle bug, always seeking affection. Several weeks later, Albert joined her, and the two instantly became best friends. Now inseparable, we affectionately call them "The Dust Bunnies" as they are always rolling across the floor together in a playful ball of fluff. These two love to play and are even more enthusiastic about cuddling, making them the perfect duo for anyone looking for double the fun and affection.
Please keep in mind that a family pet takes work and dedication, as well as many years of commitment. If Nancy & Albert sound like the perfect fit for you, the first step would be to please fill out an application at https://linktr.ee/Wildandfreerescue.

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Energy Level: Medium

Bio:
Meet Junie Bee! This gentle girl is full of love and ready to find a family that will give her the time and support she needs to truly blossom. She’s a bit fearful and will need some decompression time, so a fenced yard is a must (she’s a flight risk when scared). Though shy around adults, she’s surprisingly comfortable around respectful kids, and she’s good with cats and dogs of all sizes.

Junie Bee is a pro at giving kisses—her love language is pure affection! She’s a fun, playful pup who enjoys a gentle game of fetch and is happy to let her playmates take the lead. She’s fully potty trained, great on a leash, and kennel trained (she loves her kennel as a cozy safe spot). With her sweet nature, no signs of aggression, and love for companionship, Junie Bee would be a perfect addition to a family who can help her build confidence and enjoy the love she has to give.

☀️Chubbs! Chubbs! Chubbs!☀️ This young man is searching for someone to play fetch with! Could that be your family just in time for the holidays?

Name: Chubbs
Breed: Hound mix
Weight: 21lbs
Age: 5 months
Good with kids: Yes
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Unknown
Energy Level: Medium
Spayed/Neutered: Scheduled
Vaccines: Up to date
Crate trained: Yes
House trained: Yes
Adoption Fee: $400

Chubbs is an estimated 4-month-old hound mix with a heartwarming story of resilience. He and his three siblings were found abandoned in a ditch, malnourished and covered in parasites, but thanks to a kind homeowner, they got the care they desperately needed.

Despite being the biggest of his litter, Chubbs is a bit shy and took a couple of days to come out of his shell. Now, he happily bounces around, though he's still a little hesitant about getting too close for pets—but he's almost there! He loves treats, plush toys, and playing with other dogs, both big and small. Having a confident dog in the home would really help Chubbs build his own confidence. Right now, he feels more comfortable around dogs than people, but with patience and love, he will learn to trust humans again. While he adores other dogs, Chubbs hasn’t been around cats yet.

Please keep in mind that a family pet takes work and dedication, as well as many years of commitment. If Chubbs sounds like the perfect fit for you, the first step would be to please fill out an application at https://linktr.ee/Wildandfreerescue

PLEASE SPREAD the WORD! GOAL is 100 SHARES!

💙"We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond." - Maya Angelou

💙These three beautiful boys listed below are from another local rescue giving it their all! These pups are their longest residents so we thought that we would step up and give them a shout out in hopes to get exposure to a different group of humans! Ultimately the goal is to save them all so why not support one another while doing so! Misfit Mutts Dog Rescue

💙Far left features Mr. Sampson~
Introducing Sampson, the handsome 6-year-old pup weighing around 60 pounds, who is searching for a patient and understanding forever home to help him navigate his anxiety and build trust. While new people and places can be overwhelming for him initially, Sampson blossoms with time and patience, revealing his goofy and playful side that his caretakers have come to adore. Creating a strong bond based on trust and leadership is essential for Sampson’s happiness and well-being. He thrives with guidance from his human and feels most secure when he can rely on their support. Sampson has mastered his basic obedience, walks well on a leash, and is both crate and house trained. He enjoys spending time outdoors, whether soaking up the sun or exploring hiking trails. Due to his insecurities, Sampson would do best as the only pet in a home without children. He is a perfect blend of chill and playful, making him an ideal companion for someone who appreciates outdoor adventures as well as downtime. With the right person who understands his needs, Sampson has the potential to thrive and bring joy to their life. To ensure Sampson’s success in his new home, training sessions will be provided to potential adopters. While he may require some patience and understanding, Sampson is a truly wonderful dog who is ready to find a loving family to call his own. If you are looking for a loyal and loving companion who will appreciate your guidance, consider opening your heart to Sampson and giving him the happy and stable life he deserves.

**Sampson’s adoption fee is being sponsored by a volunteer.**

💙Middle Features Mr. Indy~
Indy is so excited to meet you, you and you! He loves everyone he meets! He is a young adult weighing in at 35 pounds. When he was surrendered the original owner said he was a German Shepherd/Heeler mix. While many feel sorry for him when they meet him, he does not see it that way! He radiates positivity and happiness. He loves everyone he has ever met. He loves dogs that love to play with him. He likes to chase the kitties in his home but will not hurt them. He does wish his people would never leave the house and prefers to never leave your side. Indy was originally an owner surrender to a rescue group in Kentucky because his needs were more than the breeder could handle. Indy suffers from Swimmers Syndrome. Swimmers Syndrome is a rare condition in which a puppy is unable to physically stand or walk, but instead lies flat on its chest and abdomen with hind legs extended behind and its forelegs extended to the front and/or sides. The only motion the puppy is capable of is paddling its limbs as though it is swimming. Indy is able to stand on his front legs and pull himself around that way. With his dragging and trying to stand, at times he does develop some sores and skin shearing and his hind limbs need to be wrapped or wearing sleeves/pants at all times. Because of his lack of muscle he does not have a lot of bladder control so he wears belly bands and because he drags his butt he wears a diaper. He has an easy therapy routine to maintain his range of motion and some swimming therapy to help maintain his strengthening. Indy is available for someone who is dedicated to learning his routine. We know that Indy may not be a great fit for every household but we know his perfect family is out there and he cannot wait to show them his sparkling personality and stunning smile!

💙Far Right Features Mr. Brutus.
Our boy Brutus is still on the hunt for his second chance at a forever family! Mr. Brutus was originally adopted from us as a puppy about two years ago and he has once again landed in our care after having behavioral issues in his adoptive home. Brutus is now about 3 years old, just under 20 pounds, and a DNA test showed him to be a Chihuahua/Belgian Malinois mix. “Small dog with a large personality” really rings true when it comes to Brutus with his high intelligence, an eagerness to work and be challenged, and his desire for human companionship.

Brutus has been in his foster home for a year and has gone through a 5 week board-and-train program with our friend Stephanie at the Beckett School. During his training, he has become very familiar with tools that will be essential for his every day life to help him keep a healthy state of mind and make good choices. Any interested adoptive home will be required to continue the use of these tools, experience isn’t required, but is definitely a bonus! An open mind to training tools and balanced training methods is a must. He has made amazing improvements since his board and train and we are so proud of him! Brutus is what we can best describe as a Sour Patch kid. He can be sweet, but he can also be sour. He struggles with food reactivity, resource guarding, and some other occasional cranky episodes that come mostly at night time, (waking up from a nap, not wanting to go in his crate) which his foster mom refers to as his night time “scaries”. He has not had one of these episodes in a couple months and is doing great! Brutus is a great little adventure buddy and is always up for a walk, run, hike, or any other kind of activity his humans are up for. He loves being challenged mentally as well as physically and enjoys learning new tricks or working on the ones he already knows. He is also great when going on car rides and just sits back to enjoy the ride. Brutus has mastered the “place” command and while he is out of his kennel, spends most of his time inside relaxing in his “place” and practicing being calm and not letting himself get too over stimulated. Naps are one of his favorite activities and he makes some pretty funny noises while yawning. He is continuing to work through his food reactivity and resource guarding by practicing the “out” command daily. His favorite activity outside is grabbing a tennis ball or any toy and running around the yard with it in his mouth. Unlike a lot of us, Brutus loves the snow and will run around in the snow and chase after snowballs! After some extended decompression time, Brutus has been co-existing with the dogs in his foster home and has done very well with them under close supervision, although he prefers dogs closer to his size. He likes to chase and be chased by his four-legged friends and just likes to feel like one of the gang. Brutus would do well co-existing with other dogs as long as they respect his space.

Brutus would do best in a home with adults only. An active and structured home is his best fit, and a family that is 100% committed to keeping his training going throughout his life. Any leniency in this can create set backs and an environment that Brutus will take advantage of and will continue to act out in. He would love to do agility classes, obedience classes or other activities that help stimulate his busy mind. A home with a fenced in yard would be ideal to help him get as much exercise as possible. He truly is a great, quirky, little dog for the right home. He may be a challenging dog, but he is 100% worth it, he deserves a second chance at having a home. If you are looking for an adventure friend and feel like your home is the right environment for Brutus to continue to live a happy life, please fill out an application today!
