Our Story
Friends Wythe K9s & Felines is a Shelter Volunteer program within the Wythe-Bland Animal Welfare Program which is a 501c3 Non Profit group. Our shelter volunteer program is a group of volunteers who go the the shelters every chance they can to walk, play with,& love on the animals who have ended up in the shelter. These volunteers spend hours also doing testing evaluating and taking photos and videos to network and make the public aware of the animals in the shelter with hope of reuniting lost pets with owners looking for them or if not then to help find adopters and rescues that can pull them from the shelter and keep them safe until that perfect fur ever home can be found! We raise money to help sponsor URGENT Dogs & Cats who do not get any interest right away form rescues, we will Sponsor $50 (to start out) on the URGENT Dogs and Cats by offering to help rescues who save an animal from death row with any vetting/ boarding costs that is needed by the rescues in order for them to be able to take on these dogs and cats to save their lives. Sometimes there are also some serious health issues that the shelters will not pay for & we also use money raised to help out these shelter animals. We started a new Barn Cat program to keep cats from dying unnecessarily in the shelter and in order to send them to people who are opening up their barns to these cats we must have them spayed/neutered and vaccinated before they go to the barns, this is a new program & is working very well but also takes lots of time and money to make it all happen. These shelter animals need us all and we appreciate everyone who follows what we do and helps us by donating to continue to save their lives and reduce the number of pets euthanized in our small rural shelter. THANK YOU!!
