We need our Facebook Family more than ever. 6 new stray dogs came in the week. No reclaims. Adoptions are at a standstill still. Rescues are few and far between. Most are full. Some rescues aren’t even answering us when we beg for help. We have a lot of amazing dogs and cats looking for homes. Sadly there are not enough homes out there. People call everyday with dogs they want to surrender, some with litters of puppies, cats they want trapped…it never ends. Our animals are stressed. Our staff is stressed. Our volunteers are stressed. We try to stay positive and upbeat while we help our animals, but we feel helpless, depressed, sad, worried, hopeless.
Please help us spread the word about our wonderful animals looking for furever homes. If you have ever thought about fostering, now is the time! If you have rescue contacts, please share them with us. Please continue sharing our posts. The more people who see our posts the better! We have so many dogs living in crates now. Come walk dogs on the nature trails next to the shelter, they love the break from the loud shelter environment. Come take pictures and videos of our animals for social media. Help us redesign our webpage. There are so many volunteer opportunities at APS! We need all the help we can get.
We have not euthanized adoptable animals for space, but we are at the point where we have no other choice. We have no more room. Animals in our care are loved by staff and volunteers. We work with our animals. We get to know our animals. We treat them like they are our own furbabies. We are all heartbroken it has come to this.
On a personal note. I am heartbroken. I love this shelter, our animals, staff and volunteers. So many wonderful things happen at APS, but I have never felt so hopeless about our future. If you love APS like I do, please help us spread the word about our wonderful animals who need homes.
Thank you all for your continued support of APS and our mission to providing medical care, comfort and compassion to stray, surrendered, sick, neglected and abused animals in Caswell County. Our goal is not to euthanize an adoptable animal including emergency medical cases.
