Big thanks to Christian Gomez and C**t Dickson for the trial prep and helping get us ready. I was just happy we could compete at this championship because Axel sustained an injury a week before this competition and was unable to train him leading up to this event.

Axel Lucaty hindering helper Olu Floyd on the re-attack portion of the front-half routine at the WDC. Axel received a V rating in protection with a score of 96 points. He was one of only two dogs at this championship to earn an excellent rating in protection.

It was great watching Tuukka Nikola explain and demonstrate his "inside room" training. It was exactly the same kind of training I learned from one of my mentors, Gene England. The only difference was the tool they used to bring out offensive guarding. Gene used the "square table", Tuukka uses an "inside room". Tuukka put on an outstanding seminar and thank him for sharing his knowledge. In Gene's podcast, he shares his methodology and theory behind "square table" training and in the video description there is a direct link to go right to the part where the "square table" is discussed. You can replace "inside room" when Gene mentions the "square table" and the training is identical. Well worth the listen.

Here's footage of Vitani, a six year-old IGP GSD female owned by Wolf Within Photography, being introduced to a suit top for the first time a few weeks back with the intention to cross-train her for a PSA PDC title down the road. First time being worked on a jacket, first time targeting the bicep. In this video, Vitani shows you her qualities by seeing how quickly she adjusted and adapted to a different form of fighting, and also how much she thoroughly enjoyed this new experience. Not so easy for a six year-old dog who has only ever been trained to target sleeves and also encouraged to pull her entire life. Great female!

I truly feel honored and humbled to work with Ivan Balabanov's and Deb Zappia's IGP clubs on a monthly basis. Two world champions who have both paved HUGE roadways for others in the IGP world - especially here in the United States. Anyone who has been in dogsports for an extended period of time knows how hard it is to maintain friendships with people in this sport. On both counts, it's been well over 20 years with these legendary trainers. Below is a short video of Deb Zappia's Orry, a powerhouse of a German Shepherd, putting serious pressure on me during the bark and hold exercise from this past weekend at her beautiful training facility.

"DADDY IT HURTS!" Here's a short video of a veteran dog breaking in a "green" decoy. "Punk", who's 10 years young, teaches a youthful stallion how to take bites in a suit top during this past Wednesday evening's group training. This was the very first time this lad has ever put the jacket on. Anyone who wants to apprentice under me and learn IGP helper work in the Chicago area, has to learn how to work a dog properly in a bite suit first. That's step one...
