Retriever Training, Basic Obedience & Boarding Boarding - Indoor climate controlled kennels. Call 337-678-2900 for information and reservations.

Obedience Training includes sit/stay, heel, here, kennel, load up and whistle commands, as well as, general manners like no jumping and proper etiquette around people and other dogs. Obedience is required for all hunting programs. Basic Hunting Retriever Training includes obedience training, collar conditioning, the trained retrieve (force fetch), introductions to guns, decoys, birds and lots of e

xperience marking and retrieving in various types of cover, terrain and water. Dogs should complete the training demonstrating obedience and the ability to remain steady to shot & fall, retrieve single marks and deliver to hand. Advanced Retriever Training includes basic training plus the remote sit, hand signals, blind retrieves and multiple marks. Dogs will get extensive training in drills designed to improve casting and lining for blind retrieves. Additionally, they will see multiple marks and in heavier cover with more challenging concepts. Dogs completing this level of training will be very obedient and should demonstrate the ability to remain steady to multiple shots and downed birds, retrieve multiple marks, as well as, challenging blind retrieves and deliver to hand. Students are typically trained on weekdays and again on Saturday mornings to allow those that work weekdays the opportunity to come out and watch and participate in training. Last week, I hosted the Cajun Riviera mid-week master test. Everything went really well thanks to all the help. We had great bird techs, my Dad (Ken Vidrine) and Mike Landreneau helped out immensely, and Curtis Lindsey’s coordination and work behind the scene made everything run smoothly. Thank you all so much for your help!
Wendi Mattinen and Wayne Labry were our judges and did a great job! Thank you!

It was a hot one today and the setup proved to be challenging.

Young dogs ran singles.
Senior level ran 2 & 3 as poison bird blinds. 1 & 4 as singles.
Master level ran left poison bird blind and picked up 1 & 2 as a double, then poison bird blind 2 and picked up 3 & 4 as a double.

We had a perfect start to our hunt test season. We don’t have the full crew back from hunting season yet but Rebel, Beaux, Louie and Bailey all passed the mid-week master at Cajun Riviera FT club. This was Bailey’s (pictured) hunt test debut.
Curtis and his crew always do a fine job and our judges Ray Shanks, Wendi Mattinen and Wayne Labry challenged us with great tests. Thank you!

Youngsville has a new Bark Park.

Thank you Youngsville Sports Complex, Tim Robicheaux, Mayor Ken Ritter and the Daigle’s for inviting me to participate in the opening ceremony. It’s a beautiful park and a great amenity for dog lovers of our community.

We had a perfect weekend at Shreveport RC. The club did a wonderful job, the weather was beautiful and the pups did great.

Congratulations to Sadie SH (Je’an Cummins, Alex Cummins) and HR Stormy SH (Casey Kinchen, Tracey Kinchen) for earning their Senior Hunter titles!

Also, Beaux, Rebel and Louie picked up another master pass toward qualification for next year’s national.

Hey everyone , this is Reba, my newest project
She’s from the recent HRCH Louie MH x Sadie litter (both dogs are training and campaigning with me).
Reba is wrapping up formal obedience and moving into the next phase of retriever training. She’s crazy about ducks and has a natural hold. Not bad for a puppy that hasn’t been through FF or HOLD conditioning.
She may be available to the right home where she will be hunted and allowed to continue her training and pursue hunt tests with me.
You’re off to a great start Lil Reba!
