Never thought I would see this much snow in South Louisiana (we are couple miles off the Gulf of Mexico) and have all the animals deal with it ok. Lowest temperatures on record for our area in the single digits.

We will have to analyze any losses after everything defrosts.
Hope you and all your animals are safe and warm.

URGENT ROAD SAFETY ALERT:

EXTREME HAZARD: Black ice is forming on roadways as snow-compacted tire tracks freeze overnight. These conditions, combined with several inches of snow, are creating EXTREMELY DANGEROUS driving conditions with limited roadway visibility.

OVERNIGHT FREEZE WARNING: A deep freeze is forecast overnight. Areas where snow/sleet/ice has been melting today will refreeze after sunset. BRIDGES MAY BE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS.

SAFETY WARNING: Ice on roadways can cause immediate loss of vehicle control, resulting in crashes and serious injuries. There is NO SAFE WAY to drive on icy roads.

Chief Broussard strongly urges residents to:
- STAY OFF THE ROADS
- Avoid "sightseeing" drives
- Travel ONLY for emergencies

WINTER STORM: Data continues to show an impactful winter storm next Tuesday across the Gulf Coast. It's too early to talk specifics like accumulation, but confidence is growing we see snow/sleet. Travel could be quite a mess Tuesday/Wednesday. Who sees snow or sleet or just a cold rain is still up in the air, but here are my initial thoughts. Accumulating snow in New Orleans isn't out of the question. Just can't say for sure yet. Stay tuned through the weekend! Updates to come.
