A week ago we had to make the decision no pet owner ever wants to make - breaking our own hearts to end this sweet girl’s suffering. She suffered a spinal cord injury that paralyzed her and, despite our best efforts to help her recover, progressed to full body paralysis and constant pain. We have had a week to adjust to our new normal here and I’m still on the verge of tears every time I think of her nails clicking across the floor or the sound of her snoring in my ear. Her absence has left a hole bigger than any of us could have expected. Though she wasn’t a lab by DNA, she was in her heart, and she loved (and tried to be a mother to) every lab puppy she ever met. I know many of you had the chance to meet her when you took home your pups, so we wanted to share our news and encourage you to hug those furry family members extra hard today (and maybe give them an extra treat in Jovie’s honor - treat time was her favorite time 😉).
