So excited! Tomorrow our whole family will be at the cabin for Pizza makin' day. Sausage is on cooking as well as burger, bacon and home made pizza sauce! Dough will be mixed up in the morning and set to rise before everyone arrives for the fun day of just hanging out together!! (We may get to meet our newest little 8 week old Newfoundland baby, Elli too!!!)

Starting sprouts for the bunnies and chickens!

Trying Wheat (day 5 after soaking) , raw Sunflower (day 2 after soaking) and black oil sunflower (just removed the water from soaking today) sprouts!

For those that worry about eating FRESH laid eggs from a chicken.
The questions I am getting is how do you know if there is a chick in the egg.

1) you have to have a rooster in the coop! No rooster no chicks!

2) if a rooster fertilizes the egg before the hen lays it, the egg has to then be in a Incubator or the hen has to set on that egg for 21 days to hatch a chick. If neither of these have been done - no chick!

If you see a little squiggly white line in your fresh egg, dont get excited - its only the chalaza that connects and stables the yellow to the shell when the egg is formed in the hen.

Happy egging! We all love and eat eggs in many different ways!
