I had the wonderful opportunity to help castrate a giraffe last week. Why? Because giraffe genetics are a tricky thing, and maintaining a healthy population across the country takes a lot of proactive planning. This guy’s contributions aren’t needed any longer, so it’s better that he can still be in a group with other Giraffe, and be less likely to fight with other males.
