I'm truly thankful to Terry Fossum.
I've posted videos and told how much I think of this product- It continues to be my absolute favorite product in veterinary medicine in the last many years- because it changes dogs lives. Timber is 15 and still running around on the trails because of it.

I've never seen them have a sale like this- a great xmas present for your dog or cat who doesn't get around like he or she used to!

This warms my heart and I still want everyone with a dog to know about it! I saw Kiaya (a 10 year old sweet Rottweiler) last month as a potential surgery candidate. Unfortunately, there was not a surgical repair option, as I diagnosed her with moderate to severe arthritis in her knee from a previous injury.

I told the owner specifically about the CBD for dogs developed by Dr. Terry Fossum. Below( is the email I got yesterday!

Check out Dr. Fossum's www.drfossums.com and use Gandolf20 for a discount on the h**p oil or chews. My dog Timber (pictured) has been on it for almost 3 years now and is running with mountain bikes at 15 years old!!)

Dr. Gandolf,

I’ll have to admit I was skeptical about Dr. Fossum’s CBD oil and how much it would help Kiaya. After two weeks, the progress is amazing. She is getting around so much better now and is building up muscle in her leg again. Not only the mobility improvement but the improvement in her happiness and alertness. She is back to being herself again.

Thank you so much for your help!

There are surgery posts waiting to be edited, but this was so meaningful it made it to the top of the list! The rescue of a precious little dog I fell in love with, who became a very meaningful gift to my mom and maybe rescued her a little, too :). Many thanks to my assistant and Ohio Bush Planes pilot for making it possible and for the wonderful video, too! As always, thankful to the staff and volunteers of the Canine Adoption Center and Muskingum County Humane Society

Please check out our latest research- it's cutting edge! (hahaha) Morning small talk turned idea turned full blown "scientific" study on solutions for dealing with the substantial stress that veterinary staff endure. (It's not all just playing with puppies and kittens!) Enjoy and let us know what you think!
Video credit: Ohio Bush Planes

It started with an idea. That idea became a hypothesis. The theory evolved into a full fledged study with absolutely no peer reviews and a complete lack of scientific approach. Regardless, we believe the results are incredibly meaningful. What do you think? Enjoy!

I had the pleasure of working with Dr Christy Nicely at the Coshocton Veterinary Clinic to realign this kitty”s knee after he tore most of the ligaments. He’s about halfway through the external rods and pins phase - another 3 weeks and the knee should be held together with scar tissue that will loosed up over a month and get him back on track for his best cat life! How cool is that??

Yesterday I had the honor of saving another leg for the campaign! This super sweet 90lb rotty had a bad stumble resulting in the most challenging fracture I’ve tackled- both pieces of the humerus were broken off at the elbow.
The owners could not afford the quote from the specialist, so their vet reached out to me. I told him I’d do my best and made no promises. We were both relieved by the surgical outcome! Zena would have managed ok on 3 legs, but life will be better with 4 🙂
Thanks to Sifferlin veterinary clinic and staff for hosting the surgery and making this possible!

This kitty was found on the side of the road after being hit by a car, and X-rays showed a badly broken leg. These breaks are commonly treated by amputating the injured leg, especially when their is no owner to pay for repair.

Luckily, Forgotten 4 Paws Rescue and Animal Care Hospital of Reynoldsburg contacted with Dr. Gandolf, who was able to save the leg by repairing the break! They all worked together affordable help the kitty. Once the leg heals, this kitty will be available for adoption- with all 4 legs!

Just back from Las Vegas! I was more than content to do nothing other than spend long days at lectures and lab, then study in my hotel room at night. I’m so excited to bring this procedure to East- central Ohio, and make this gold standard repair of cruciate ligament ruptures in dogs both available and affordable. My mentor at OSU has done both of Timber’s knees!.

“CB” is the newest Member of our campaign! CB got out of the house by accident and came back holding up her leg. Her owner found us after getting a brief exam with a specialty clinic that gave her a $5000 estimate she could not afford. We admitted her Wednesday evening hoping to perform x-rays in order to determine the nature of the fracture. She was so upset and painful , as you can see, we were unable to get the x-rays without anesthesia. We decided to do it all at once the next day. I prepared my orthopedic equipment for a range of possibilities but didn’t expect this severe fracture or the end of her humerus at her elbow - split into three pieces! I am very happy with the results! I can’t wait to see how she is doing on her follow up.

This sweetie is feeling soooo much better! Her owners thought she was leaking urine because of age, and we got her on the schedule as soon as Dr. Sifferlin felt these stones and confirmed with X-ray!
As some of you already know, this is one of my favorite surgeries- bladder stones never get old! So amazing that they form and such relief when they are gone.
They remind me of the rock Tumbler I had growing up.

Some dogs have a genetic predisposition. If your dog is ever having accidents or dribbling urine be sure to get them checked out!

And yes- that is simply a sterilized tablespoon! Can’t say I’ve had occasion to use one so big in a bladder before.

I Anesthetized this box turtle to clean out his ear abscesses last week. This condition causes a large swelling on the side of their head. The number one cause is polluted waters, which is extra sad.

The last picture is of placing an endotracheal tube (breathing tube) to put him on anesthetic gas after he was sedated by injection. Their trachea opens at the base of the tongue, and his was really swollen from the severe double ear infection. so I could only put in a very small tube!

He started eating cucumber, lettuce and strawberries for the first time in days, just hours after he woke up 🙂. Hopefully he will heal well and be released back to his home in a few weeks. Good luck little guy!

I was reminded of Olaf today, the sweet and patient dog who found his way to the shelter where I worked in 2018. We made incredible headway his unusual situation- a foot that died away from frostbite only to lose him to an all to common disease. He had so many heart worms that he died from their impact before we could kill them off. This picture served as a powerful reminder and educator to people- kills and it’s so easy to prevent! monthly topical drops or chews, or even a yearly injection. lives on in memory to help keep other dogs protected!
