Update: At this time , Poppy has many applications in less than 24 hours. As such, we will not be accepting any additional applications as there is only one Poppy!

Please welcome Poppy to STS!

Poppy is a 4 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Up until coming to STS, Poppy was a breeding dog at a puppy mill, so life has not been very kind to her. While she is shy, once she trusts you she is the sweetest angel! She gets along well with other dogs, but isn’t into rough play. She prefers to lay in a dog bed or on your lap and watch the action. Poppy has been gentle around kids, too.

Poppy has been spayed, and is working on potty training and being comfortable on leash. She’ll do best in a home with a fenced yard. Poppy’s big beautiful eyes will melt your heart!

🐾 To learn more about our adoption process and to apply to adopt, visit www.stopthesuffering.org/adopt. All of our dogs are fostered in the Columbus area and are available for adoption to Ohio residents. If you see a dog posted on social media who is not listed on the adoption application, select “unknown” and fill in the dog’s name later in the application.

I've thought long and hard about posting a bio for this dog who we named Jerry Springer. I wanted to really write it based on the comments we got on the intake page about a dog that no one, but us, has met and knows and it would have looked like this.

Jerry Springer is a sweet angel baby. He clearly does not belong here at the shelter. He is cute, and adorable, and just needs some love. He must be amazing because he's wearing a sweater. All of those of you who applied to adopt without knowing anything about the dog, stop reading now and give us a call to adopt him. No take backs.

BUT we are responsible adults, so the real bio looks like this.

Jerry Springer IS adorable. He is 4 years old and around 6lbs. He is very fearful here and that may be just situational, or Jerry might be kind of a jerk. He likes approximately one of us who works here and the rest of us he barks and lunges at in his kennel. He has what we would call a typical "small dog" syndrome. Does this mean we don't like him or that he's a bad dog, no, but it does mean that he might not be the best fit for all homes.

Jerry Springer is looking for a home, probably with no children or children who are dog savvy. He is fearful of other dogs but not reactive, at least not in shelter. Jerry seems to have some barrier reactivity in a kennel, again, it might be situational but it might be an ongoing issues that you will need to work on with him in a home.

So, if you'd like a dog that you know about and not just what it looks like, and you think that you might be able to help Jerry, you can apply for him at rosscountyhumanesociety.org.

We screen applications and take time to get to know the dogs to help set them and you up for long term success. We are not trying to ruin your life by not giving you the dog you want that you know absolutely nothing about.

Xylo here hoping for someone who may be looking for a new best friend or life companion I just very well might be your guy! I am friendly, smart and I think I have a sense of adventure. I also would likely be a great walking or jogging partner. OR if you are more into hanging around the house I can likely keep myself entertained some toys. Perhaps playing some fetch or tug with you. Actually, as you can see, the possibilities are endless! I’ll try to be whatever you want me to be! Why don’t you stop in and let’s meet!🐾

I am Mack and if you had a contest for soulful eyes I would rate right up there! I mean, it would be hard to beat me in the “soulful eyes” category! Best of all, behind these eyes I seem to be a sweet gentle giant. As big as I am I would think it may be sort of hard to lose me but I guess that may mean somebody didn’t want to find me. I am looking my FOREVER HOME AND PEOPLE! I would be very happy to find this perfect family very soon! maybe you? I think if you meet me you just might fall in love!❤️ come soon!

Woofles has been adopted!

He went to a foster to adopt home with two of our volunteers and as we all knew they would - they officially made him a part of their family.❤️ We could not be happier for him! Woofles will share a home with an incredible pack that also includes alumni from the Adoption Center. He will get all the love and support he needs during his senior years. He is also just a few steps away from Grandma who will surely spoil him with treats and so much love.

Happy tails, Woofles! Go live your best life!💙
