I've thought long and hard about posting a bio for this dog who we named Jerry Springer. I wanted to really write it based on the comments we got on the intake page about a dog that no one, but us, has met and knows and it would have looked like this.
Jerry Springer is a sweet angel baby. He clearly does not belong here at the shelter. He is cute, and adorable, and just needs some love. He must be amazing because he's wearing a sweater. All of those of you who applied to adopt without knowing anything about the dog, stop reading now and give us a call to adopt him. No take backs.
BUT we are responsible adults, so the real bio looks like this.
Jerry Springer IS adorable. He is 4 years old and around 6lbs. He is very fearful here and that may be just situational, or Jerry might be kind of a jerk. He likes approximately one of us who works here and the rest of us he barks and lunges at in his kennel. He has what we would call a typical "small dog" syndrome. Does this mean we don't like him or that he's a bad dog, no, but it does mean that he might not be the best fit for all homes.
Jerry Springer is looking for a home, probably with no children or children who are dog savvy. He is fearful of other dogs but not reactive, at least not in shelter. Jerry seems to have some barrier reactivity in a kennel, again, it might be situational but it might be an ongoing issues that you will need to work on with him in a home.
So, if you'd like a dog that you know about and not just what it looks like, and you think that you might be able to help Jerry, you can apply for him at rosscountyhumanesociety.org.
We screen applications and take time to get to know the dogs to help set them and you up for long term success. We are not trying to ruin your life by not giving you the dog you want that you know absolutely nothing about.
