Yabbies. Fun facts.
The common yabbie is an Australian freshwater crustacean in the parastacidae family. Yabbies as pets, require very little maintenance and can live for 2-5 years.
Up to 300 eggs are stuck under the mothers tail. They hatch from a few weeks up to several months depending the temperature. Baby yabbies should be separated from the adults and fed baby fish food.
They can grow up to 30cms.

Recently we cared for a young boys pet yabbies. He had a male and a female yabby plus lots of babies in separate tanks. It was interesting caring for these unusual pets, there’s probably no pet we won’t care for but just thinking snakes might not make the list. 🙈

Our children loved having Guinea Pigs as pets growing up.
