Clark is pictured in 1931, the year that Greta Garbo 'asked' for MGM's rising young leading-man to appear opposite her in the movie 'Susan Lenox - Her Fall And Rise'....A dog was needed in the priduction so Clark used his dog 'Major', a German Shepherd/Alsation, to appear alongside him....Clark LOVED dogs, and owned many through the years, he always said that he never trusted anyone who didn't like animals. He also said "What's not to like in a dog?"....Sadly, filming 'Susan Lenox' was not a happy experience for Clark, Garbo ruled the production, such was her power at that time, which Clark did admire, AND the fact that Greta finished work at 5pm, whatever. Clark took note and determined to have this rule included in a future contract....Garbo did not enjoy filming the movie and described Clark as being 'wooden' as an actor, Clark retorted by calling Garbo a 'snob', they never made another movie together, although there was talk of a re-teaming of them at one stage....Have a great Wednesday everyone...Louisa 👑🎞📽❤️💋

Axel Lucaty hindering helper Olu Floyd on the re-attack portion of the front-half routine at the WDC. Axel received a V rating in protection with a score of 96 points. He was one of only two dogs at this championship to earn an excellent rating in protection.

I have heard conversations from well respected GSD trainers that modern GSD have become too big and too angulated and because of this the 1M hurdle exercise in IGP obedience has become a hazard. I have even heard conversations entertaining changes in the 1M jump to accommodate this fact. Much like the in the early days of Schutzhund when the wall was turned into an A-frame. But that change was to protect from the impact of failure and hazards on the back side. These skirt the issue that that there are breeders and GSD folks who desire exaggerated reach in the gait at the cost of durability and dexterity. I know I just hit some buttons. Damn the torpedoes.

The GSD is one of the best utility breeds. The jump is a crucial element in determining structure, movement and strength. These are critical attributes to the breed and the exercise is an important aspect of IGP obedience. The ability for a dog to have speed, explosiveness, nerve, calm full grip, fight, heart, temperament, stamina, nose, guidability and yes jumping ability are all part of the package. Every one of these aspects matter and you can absolutely have it all including ability to jump.
