Building and understanding the relationship with your dog is an essential, ongoing part of that special relationship. Problematic behaviour can be challenging, to the point where people feel the only alternative is to re-home their pet. Helping owners understand why their dog behaves in certain ways can improve confidence, enabling owners to work towards better behaviour, with their pet.
I'd say before 7am but good point!
Hi everyone. It's been a while since I posted as I cant seem to share posts of value on my page at the moment. So I copied this link and it seems to work.
The information is for all those who own a dog, particularly those who show reactive behaviour. There isn't much written I don't tell all clients that come to me with this problem.
If you cant see the post, its by 'Think Dog' by Hannah Sadgrove and Lewis Nicols, they are in New Zealand I believe, but she's worth following and has a patron page. https://www.facebook.com/100064667170077/posts/622062756625958/
💗💙🚗 TWO MORE DOGS SAVED 🚗💙💗
🌟🐾🌟 We need to raise £220 🌟🐾🌟
As some of you know, as well as taking in lots of dogs from stray pounds, we also find rescue spaces for other dogs in pounds - we won’t see any left behind ❤️ Things are SO tough right now for all rescues and pounds, we are all so full and struggling under the strain 💔
BUT we have managed to save TWO more beautiful dogs from the pound who are heading to two different rescues at opposite sides of the country... We've arranged and will pay for transport for these beautiful girls - and first vaccinations for one to secure her the space she so desperately needed 💙💗 We can’t post a photo of one of the girls for confidentially reasons, but here’s adorable ‘Bippo’ (baby Hippo 🦛💗) who is one of the girls saved this week 💗
❤️ Can you help us raise their transport and 1st vaccination cost? 🙏 To help us keep saving more 🙏❤️

This is a dog who sleeps well.
Knowing she is safe.
She is loved.
She is cared for.
She is wanted.
It wasn’t always this way, after adopting her we knew there would be a time when she would need to decompress, to relax in our company and to understand this was now her home and we are her family. It took a while to sleep on her back with her belly exposed, a sign she knew she was protected so could be vulnerable. It took time for her not to devour her food in case she had none the next day. It took time for her to realise she could go anywhere she wanted. It took time for her to learn she would not be caged for hours on end. It took time for her to realise she had other things to stimulate her rather than continuously spinning.
For whatever reason you take a dog in to become a member of your family, wether it’s bought, given or adopted I don’t care as long as you realise this is an upheaval. With any upheaval it takes two things to overcome it.
Time and love.
Give one and eventually you will receive the other.
Amazing work and rescue 👏 these guys really know what they are doing. I hope you're never in need but it's good to know of, if someone needs help.
How to train a chin rest for use in grooming, veterinary and other handling contexts
Such a sweet video of Ziggy being a little reluctant to swap, but then decided he was too chilled after all the practise his mum has been doing regarding his resource guarding 🙂
Most fresh puppies know NOTHING (exceptional breeders aside). Not only do they not know anything yet, but almost all of their natural inclinations are behaviours that we’d prefer they didn’t do in certain contexts or at all. So they don’t know how to do anything you ask, and everything they wa...
POOR JASPER NEEDS URGENT HELP 💔😓💙
Jasper is SO distressed in kennels - he cries literally all day - he just wants to be with people, but sadly nobody suitable has come forward for him 💔
He had a meet and greet last week, but the family fell for his sister (Blue) instead … which is great for Blue, but so sad for our sweet Jasper 💙💔
Jasper is 19 months old and is quite a small Greyhound (he’s not a Whippet - but just as adorable ☺️). He can be a giddy kipper at times, but once he’s out of his kennel he settles really well and loves to just chill out 💙
Jasper walks well on his lead, could live with a friendly female larger breed dog, but is too much for smaller dogs (he doesn’t know he’s got such long legs 😅). He can live with older children 💙❤️
PLEASE if you can help by fostering, or offering a permanent home to Jasper… get in touch!!! This is very, very urgent and is becoming a big welfare issue for poor Jasper 💔💙💔
Which ways have you experimented with food stimulation for your dog?
Today, I want you to do something different with your dogs. I want you to take a bowl of food, and I want you to take the same food placed inside a puzzle of some sort. The food puzzle could be a wrapped towel puzzle, an enrichment box, a KONG Wobbler - you name it. Place these two options in front....

Millie was in danger of drowning as the tide rose on mudflats near Emsworth.
A simple exercise which is the start of focus work, that can lead to learning touch tolerance.
My dog needs regular bathing and while we wait for the shampoo to do it's thing, he gets fidgety and wants out. This simple basic focus work will lead to me adding in a light body touch whilst he focusing on the spoon. He keeps his mind on the food. He knows it won't be long to wait. He knows nothing he can't cope with will happen whilst he waits. We build it up gradually, with repetitions. He builds tolerance and trust.
He gives consent to eventually let me clip a nail, check an ear, examine a sore spot whilst waiting patiently for the reward. If it's too much I acknowledge the signs and stop, wait and then repeat easier steps.

This could be a nice way to wean off bed sharing for separation anxiety problems, or alleviate competition over bed space with other family members. I love it when mine share the bed but I don't do it often as I like my own space and value my sleep 😴
Do you have dogs that want to sleep on the bed close to you?
We have the answer …… a hik9 bed with leg extensions, their bed is then the same height as yours.
They’ll have their space and you can claim your bed back!
Leg extensions work with our small, medium and large beds and are available in a choice of two heights.
In the photo is a medium bed with size 1 leg extensions, in stainless steel

1st practise and one of the easiest ways to work towards nail filing without clippers. It took her less than 30 seconds to natually scratch at the towel from first placement. I was wondering if she'd use the other foot and just when video ended she used both. I'd practise this for several reps over a few days before transferring to the towel being over a textured block, depending on confidence and reliability.
Hi it's time for a long overdue update. I've got some really exciting developments I'm looking forward to offering clients, who would like to improve handling and touch tolerance alongside core skills to improve confidence in new environments, particularly with grooming and Vet visits. More news and information to come!
