Kittens kittens kittens Home Checks applies adoption fee is £70. Unfortunately we do not adopt out to young children or people living in one bedroom indoor flats Most rescue centres have the same rules

Rescue isn't just about adoption. We want to create happy endings for all cats, sometimes cats already have their happy home and have just wandered too far. Today we have scanned 8 missing cats, some reunited, some paper collared. We even have a waiting list ready for feral cats needing relocating to farm settings. This is because we will not release ferals back into dangerous areas. So even though we are short on space right now, we are trying our very best to help who we can in any way we can.

We don’t need Fosters at moment but happy to put your name down for future

Fosterers needed, please read on...

We are approaching some difficulty, soon building work begins next to our cattery which forces us to close our little cat haven up until it's safe reopen. We are in urgent need of more fosterers so we can continue to have rescue space available to cats in need. If you could spare time and love by becoming a fosterer please continue to read below to find out if you meet criteria.

A fosterer will need:

• Time. You must have the time to spend caring for your foster cats. No point if you’re working full time

• Transport is essential incase an emergency vet visit is needed. Also we ask that you are near to us in Rumney Cardiff so I can call in on you if you need me easily

• Permission to allow pets if renting. And you need a safe environment not a shared house and permission for everybody in your household your family and preferably one bedroom or one room that you can use that the door is always shut your foster cat must not get out Preferably new young children

• Experience is absolutely essential, many of our cats need additional help, perhaps due to injury, illness, or you may be caring for a pregnant cat or kittens.

• You must be in a position to provide a quiet secure place for your foster cat, ideally a spare room, cats must be completely indoor only while in your care.

We will provide all food, litter, beds and are at the end of the phone at anytime for all our fosterers. Drop us a message if you are interested in becoming a fosterer 🐱

Due to so many people stealing cats and dogs. Dear Pet owners

The police have provided us with the following document for advice:

"Due to the increase in demand for dogs and puppies we are urging all pet owners to be vigilant.

Please consider the following advice:
• Avoid leaving dogs in the garden or outside kennels if you are not at home
• Keep garden fences and gates secure to prevent escaping and easy access
• Never leave your dog alone in a car or secured outside a shop
• If dogs are off the lead ensure they stay near and have a good recall
• If you keep dogs in an outside building contemplate an alarm, extra lighting and CCTV to deter thieves
• If your dog is having puppies please be extra observant as the price of puppies has increased considerably and do not advertise on social media
• Make sure you dogs microchip information is up to date and is wearing a tag with your name and telephone number
• Keep a current photograph of your dog and note any distinguishing marks
• Complete proper checks before buying any dog or puppy.
• If you see anything suspicious please call 101 or in an emergency 999

Please be vigilant and report any incidents to South Wales Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency."

There is also more information in the below post which we have shared from South Wales Police.

What to adopt. ? Thank you for getting in touch!
We have a few questions we need to ask before we start the process.
Do you your own home or are you renting?
If you are renting do you have permission from the landlord, we will need to see proof on a legal document.Have you had a cat before do you have any other pets in the house do you have children and if so how old are they who else lives in your household

could we have your full address and contact number please?
Normally we would do a homecheck in person, due to Covid-19, we will be asking for a video chat in your home.

A few things to bare in mind -
-When you you have your new cat you’ll have to keep it in for eight weeks so they can get use to the area, and yourselves. Otherwise cats could get lost
- Kittens will cost roughly £400 in the first year, it can be a financial burden that needs to be carefully considered. All of our cats over 6 months will be neutered, microchipped, flea and worm treated and have 5 weeks free insurance.and vet checked If you are looking to adopt a kitten below 5 months, then due to them being too young, for the neutering, However the others can be done microchipping ,, regular flea/worm treatments every 3 months will be the responsibility of the new owner.

You will be asked to sign an adoption form along with donating the adoption fee.which is £60 If for any reason you don’t wish to keep the cat or there is problems please contact us directly and Do Not Home look at yourself the cat needs to come back into the rescue

Thank you so much for enquiring about adopting a cat from ARC 💜

SHARED POST................
a dog Warden deals daily with reports of dogs going missing/stolen, so hopefully a few tips on how to keep your precious pets safe will help to prevent the heartbreak caused by these callus monsters.
1. Do not leave your dogs in a car anywhere, they have been stolen from supermarket car parks.
2. Do not leave your dog tied up outside shops etc.
3. Do not leave your dog unattended in the garden, they have been stolen from gardens even while the owners are in the house.
4. Be careful who you talk to about your dog, for example, if you go to dog shows, game fairs, and any event aimed at dogs, you may be giving a potential thieve all the information they need to steal your dog.
5. When you are walking your dog, change your time and route, and always keep an eye on your dog, do not let it out of your sight, particularly if you have more than one dog, the routine of thieves is that one will keep you talking while the other will take your dog when it is out of your sight.
6. Do be careful of walking in isolated spots as the really callus thieves will literally take your dog from you.
7. Check your fencing/gateposts, if you see a mark that was not there before be extra vigilant, apparently different colours mean different uses for the dog.
8. If you see anything suspicious then please keep a written record, type of car, colour, reg number, description of people, all of this can help to connect these thieves to other areas.
9. PLEASE share this with your friends, even if they do not have dogs and get them to share it with their friends and so on, if we all work together across the country them hopefully we can make dog theft a thing of the past so no one has to go though the heart break of losing their best friend.
10. If you do lose your dog then please do report it to your local Dog Warden (Council) also check with the Street Scene teams as not all Councils keep a record of any dogs involved in road accidents that they remove from the roads, they are just disposed of and not necessarily checked for micro chips. at least if they know you have lost your dog, if in the tragic event it has been involved in a road accident then they can contact you

We often have feral, or semi feral cats who have come from areas that are too dangerous for them to re-released there. These cats sometimes are not happy in an indoor environment, so farms are a perfect place for these cats to be. It offers them freedom and they do their part to keep pests away. Even in these scenarios we do homecheck, the holding must have a suitable place for the cats to be kept in for 6 weeks while they get used to their new surroundings before being released. We can also provide temporary housing for the cats during their quarantine period before being released. Then all you need do is provide food and shelter for the cats. A happy fed cat will work harder to keep the rodents away as they'll have more energy. If you can offer our feral cats a place of freedom on your farm/stables/holdings give us a shout 😁 these cats will be neutered and chipped wormed fleaded South Wales

25/11/2020

If you lose a cat please follow these instructions. Try as much as you can here to help - Most cats get shut in sheds & garages close to home - it's the most common reason cats go missing. So many cats every day. Try to check and recheck any near you yourself as not everyone around you is on fb or in any groups. Also check neighbours' houses, empty houses, greenhouses, derelict buildings, cupboards, under decking, car engines, small gaps, brambles, roofs & trees, hot tubs, water butts, ponds, pools, jacuzzis or any bins that collects water etc. Check front gardens in your street & under bushes & vehicles in case s/he is injured. Knock doors & post leaflets in your street and the street behind you with your contact number & ask people to check their sheds & garages in case the cat is locked in. Put posters up with a photo and contact number. Ring the Council, RSPCA & all Vets including emergency Vets in the area in case your cat has been picked up. Ring local cat rescues. Go out with a torch when it's dark and quiet and shake biscuits or tap a tin and call him/her. Scatter used litter in the garden to give a familiar scent to follow.

FOUND CATS

If you see a cat that you don't know or think may be lost, the first thing is to ask around the neighbours in case anyone recognises the cat as s/he may be new to the area and can't find the way home. Cats have been posted as found that turn out to live very close by. Try a paper collar with your contact number on in case the cat goes home and if that fails to find the owner, take the cat to any vet to scan for a chip. If the cat isn't chipped, check all local vets in case the cat is reported as lost, put posters up around the area, post on as many local FB groups as you can and check the Animal Search UK website to see if the cat has been posted as missing on there. The Most Powerful Way To Support The Work We Do

In a year around 2000 animals have passed through our doors. This includes the many litters of kittens born into our care or handed in, the strays and surrendered cats we take in and rehome, the ferals that we trap and neuter and often relocate, the lost cats and kittens we reunite with their owners, and the short stay cats whose owners are struggling to care for them – we can’t always meet the huge need but we do what we can and as much as we can.

It might surprise you to hear that our vets bills come to over forty thousand pounds per year. This is for the essential neutering of the many un-neutered cats we take in plus emergency and ongoing care and medication for cats and kittens with heath issues or those involved in an accident.

ARC is run entirely by volunteers who freely give a regular time commitment to rescuing and rehabilitating cats. It’s hard work but together we achieve so much. Considering there are no paid staff, the numbers of cats and kittens we help is astonishing. Every penny goes straight towards the work we do.
Fundraising will always be a priority. We are a relatively new charity and we don’t have huge cash reserves - fundraising events and the generosity of our supporters are so important to us. Wherever we are able, we do what we can to help out other local rescue charities too with cash and food donations. We are part of a bigger network and we are all working towards the same cause.

The most effective way to help us to continue the work we do is by regular donation. Knowing that we have regular payments coming in frees up our time to do what we do best, rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats and kittens and sometimes other animals too.

A £5 or £10 per month donation goes straight towards paying our basic bills. We actually have very few regular donations set up and we really need to build on this.
If you would like to become one of our regular supporters, you can do this by setting up a Standing Order using our BACs bank details or by using the GoCardless payment links which are in the comments below.
Supporting us in this way is the single most effective way to help us to help cats.

‼please share‼

During this time of crisis there will be kittens being born in gardens, sheds, garages, warehouses, its endless. We are urging anyone who finds pregnant cats, mums and kittens to contact a rescue straight away. It may be lovely watching them play through the window, but in reality if they aren't picked up then that is a whole new generation that will breed and become a big problem.

Kittens get can pregnant as young as 4 months! 😬 one litter will lead to many.

All rescues have limited space, kittens born outside will be feral. The sooner mum and kittens get into a rescue, the sooner they can learn to trust people and be rehomed. This gets so much harder as a kitten gets older, which means that rescue space (be it foster home or cattery) is occupied for longer. Help us help more cats, call a rescue straight away. Thank you ❤

Calling all my wonderful followers.**URGENT VET FUNDS APPEAL** After yesterdays drama rescuing 15 feral cats with a few more to come and looking after all the other cats already in our care, we are expecting a HUGE vet bill in the coming weeks (which will include health checks and neutering for all the ferals and any costs associated with the pregnant mums and their kittens). We’ve never needed funds as much as we do now, please consider donating to help towards our vet costs. We have great discounts from our vets as we are a rescue but due to the sheer amount of cats we are helping our bill is going to skyrocket. You can donate using the ‘Donate’ button at the top of the page or please PM us for our bank details. With kitten season soon upon us and some recent large vet bills, its time to ask for your help!!

We rely totally on donations from you our supporters and every penny counts. Please consider making a donation, no matter how much, to enable us to keep up the hard work.

There are three main ways to donate:-

**Paypal - click on the link in this post or the donate button at the top of the page and this will take you to the ARC paypal page.

**Bank transfer - see the first post in the comments section for our bank details. Donating directly to our account means that we dont pay any fees and if you use internet banking it is really simple to set up.

**Monthly standing order - if you would like to contribute regularly to the work at ARC, you can set up a monthly standing order with your bank which again comes directly to our account and is free of fees. Please use the account details in the first post in the comments section and again if you use internet banking it is super simple to set up.

Thank you all so much for your support, without you we wouldnt be able to carry out the work that we do ###
