⚠️Did you know that it's a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped, and as of June 2024, it will be a requirement for cats indoors or outdoors to also be microchipped.

What is a microchip

A microchip is a small device implanted between the shoulder blades of an animal that is used for permanent identification. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and can be read by a microchip scanner and matched to the owner's contact details, which are kept on a national database.

The microchip implanted in your dog/cat has no battery and no internal power source; it sits inertly in the dog/cat until it is read by a microchip scanner.

It is with great sadness to hear the news of Paul O’Grady’s passing.
Paul O'Grady has been an instrumental figure in promoting the importance of rescue dogs and the joy they can bring to our lives.
His love for these furry companions has been evident in his TV shows and advocacy work.
Through his efforts, many people have come to appreciate the unique qualities of rescue dogs and the valuable role they can play in our lives. His work has helped to break down stereotypes and highlight the wonderful personalities and traits of these often misunderstood dogs.
He was great to watch on TV throughout the years and will be deeply missed.

For your little fur babies please be aware that

Daffodils are toxic to both cats and dogs, if ingested. 🏵
The whole plant is toxic , especially the bulbs.
Symptoms would include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, excessive drooling, low blood pressure, seizures, breathing problems and abdominal pain.
Tulips, Hyacinths, and Crocuses are poisonous too. 🌷

Easter is also fast approaching so please be aware of these delicious sweets and treats us humans like to enjoy, which are not good for our furry friends 🐶🐱

Chocolate 🍫- a common pet poison, the higher the cocoa content the more danger it poses.

Raisins, currants and sultanas🍪- found in Easter treats such as hot Cross buns which can cause kidney failure.

Xylitol🍬- the sweetener can be found in many confectionary items and causes a dangerous drop in blood sugar levels.

Primrose, Pansy, Petunia, Peony, Penstemon, Primula, Pereira and Indie

They like to eat greens, kale, grapes, sweetcorn, lettuce, vegetable scraps as well as chicken pellets and corn.

These are ex battery farm chickens that have been saved from slaughtering.

It has been brought to our attention that there is currently a precautionary recall of certain cat foods due to a possible link to an increase in pancytopaenia cases. Pancytopaenia is a very rare condition in which the number of blood cells (red, white and platelets) rapidly decreases causing serious illness.

The affected foods are dry foods from the following brands; Sainsburys, AVA and Applaws. The recall does not apply to all batches and ranges. If you have any food from these brands it is recommended that you stop feeding them immediately and note the batch number and use-by date to see if the food is affected by the recall.
