A super day in sunny Somerset yesterday with a lovely group of dog owners doing their Outdoor Dog First Aid Certificate 🐾📜 They practised improvised muzzles, discussed the hazards of different outdoor environments, applied wound dressings, dealt with choking pups, improvised splints for poorly legs, and very nearly brought the Casper’s back to life with CPR practice! It was a busy afternoon! Well done to all of you 👏👍 There are more photos of you all in the ‘VIXON Dog First Aiders in Action’ album. Your certificates will be winging their way to you soon. A big well done also goes to Jo Stradling for organising the course for her local dog walkers 😊

It was great fun working on another one to one Outdoor Dog First Aid course yesterday. The whole syllabus, from bandaging wounds to dealing with drowning and poisonous substances was covered through personal coaching. Zara the VIXON four pawed trainer 🐾 also made sure she was on hand for doggy CPR coaching tips 😄 A big well done to Susan Hinder on her superb knowledge and performance throughout. Susan is a very experienced Canine Fitness Trainer in Devon and it’s great to see another professional who is qualified to be able to deal with injuries to dogs should they occur 👍

Well done to everyone who attended our Outdoor Dog First Aid course on Sunday. It was a great day with a lovely bunch of enthusiastic people who all worked hard and successfully put their skills into action. We had some wonderful bandaging, all of the Casper the dog manikins were brought back to life through expert doggy CPR and the pack of ferocious furry woofers were kept under control with improvised muzzling! Well done all and a BIG well done to Liz from Woodhead Woofers for organising another successful course!

A week ago today our beautiful Hungarian Vizsla Ruby died. She was just seven. Losing a beloved family dog is utterly terrible, but our grief is compounded by the fact we might have been able to save her, had we known about xylitol. Many dogs don't like being touched by strangers. Please ask the owner if you can stroke their dog first. Once you have consent, allow the dog to come to you at his leisure and gently stroke under his chin if he's comfortable :)

A fantastic day this weekend spent with a lovely group in Mid Devon for an Outdoor Dog First Aid course organised by Woodhead Woofers. There was lots of laughter, smiles, discussions, delicious cookies (thanks Liz) and most importantly lots of dog first aid practice - from how to give CPR to your dog through to what to do if they're wounded or unable to move and much more!
