Emergency post!
Police department in Moriarty received a call about a dog that was hit by a car at the Rodeway Inn on Holiday St. They called me and I came to evaluate the dog. It is wearing a black collar with rabies tag from East Mountain Vet so I am taking the dog there. The dog is alert and awake but immobile in hind end. The rabies tag is the only thing on the collar, there is no name or phone number so I can’t contact an owner directly. Please share this so we can try to find the owner and let them know that their dog is on its way to East Mountain Vet in Edgewood.

As you are aware all shelters and rescues in New Mexico are finding themselves with too many dogs and too few adoptions. Unfortunately for the shelters the result is the difficult decision to euthanize adoptable dogs due to overcrowding.

The Valencia County Animal Shelter (VCAS) is one of the hardest hit as the number of owner surrenders and strays increases daily.

This week VCAS asked us again to rescue dogs in order to save them from being euthanized .. of course we said yes.

These 6 dogs .. 2 Pyrenees mixes, a blind cocker spaniel, a Great Dane, a border collie, and a collie .. today have been saved from death row and are joining the Argos Rescue family. As with all our dogs, they arrived at our vet's for wellness check-ups, vaccinations, microchips, and heartworm testing. All will be scheduled for spay/neuter.

These 6 dogs now have a future thanks to the efforts of the shelter staff, our vet partner, and Argos volunteers and supporters.

These dogs are all in need of foster/forever homes. If interested please submit the online foster or adoption application located on our website www.argosdogrescue.org.

If unable to foster or adopt please consider donating www.argosdogrescue.org/donate so we can continue to rescue those that desperately need us.

There have been numerous dog encounters with rattlesnakes lately. Be aware of their presence in your yard, near your home, and on hiking trails. Rattlesnake encounters have occurred in areas where they were previously unseen.

Hello community!

Thanks to you, the Moriarty Lions Club was able to provide several bags of dog and cat food to Torrance County Animal Services.

Please keep in mind that the TCAS food pantry is temporarily closed. They haven’t received very many donations and are desperate to be able to provide for some of the animals in our area. If you are able to help, please contact the shelter at 505-384-5117

The Lions Club of Moriarty is proud to support TCAS. We hope you will, too!
