Dylan received a heartfelt note from Sgt. Osborne of the Tennessee Highway Patrol after Nibbles passed away. Sgt. Osborne and the THP have been big supporters of Dylan from the very beginning and we so appreciate this note.
Thank you Sgt. Osborne!

We have not posted much since Nibbles passed away. Dylan has been adjusting to life without his best friend, and getting to know Ted each and every day. On a few occasions we have noticed large groups of ducks flocking to our waterfront. They could go anywhere on this lake, but they come here. Dylan likes to say that they are coming to pay their respects to Nibbles. Then today this happened: many ducks not only showed up on the lake, but they walked up onto the beach, into our yard, and walked up towards the house, to the very spot where Nibbles is buried. They congregated there, and more and more came. As some left others took their spot. Some even came up to the pen where Bill and Ted live. They chatted for a while. Dylan smiled, but we could tell he was a bit sad inside as he remembered his friend Nibbles.

Now some may say that they were there for any birdseed that fell from the bird feeders. But those bird feeders have been there for some time, and no ducks have come up there before. They also don’t do this at any of the other houses on the water that we are aware of. So we will go ahead and believe that this is natures way of letting Dylan know that Nibbles is not forgotten.

Merry Christmas Nibbles!

Our hearts are heavy as we write this message to all of the followers to Dylan’s Duck Adventures.

Last week, Dylan’s pet duck, Nibbles, passed away unexpectedly. As a family, we took the time to grieve this great loss over the past week. We wanted to wait to inform you, so that Dylan could process the loss, grief and sadness. Dylan was absolutely devasted. He cried for days, could not eat, could not go to school, or do much of anything. Nibbles was his buddy, and the connection that two of them shared wasn’t like any other we have seen. Even Dylan couldn’t grasp the depths of his love for Nibbles until he was suddenly taken away.

Dylan wrestled with what to do next. He really struggled with getting another duck, because he does not want to feel the pain of loss again, yet, he knew that Bill needed a partner and did not want to loose Bill as well.

A few days after Nibbles passed, our family adopted a duck very similar to Bill. Dylan’s mood changed instantly and he was able to cope with the loss of Nibbles in a healthy manner.

Dylan has named his new duck Ted. (Bill and Ted) Ted is a large white Pekin Duck that Bill enjoys being around. They have become best friends. And Dylan really enjoys him.

Through this loss, Dylan has reflected on just how much his emotional support animals have helped him grow. He recounted many stories and examples of ways that Nibbles helped him develop. Dylan spent a lot of time with Bill, talking with him about the loss of Nibbles.

We are forever grateful for Nibbles And what he meant to Dylan and our family. We will miss him greatly.

Thank you for understanding the need for Dylan and our family to process the loss before announcing it to the world. Thank you as well for your continued support of Dylan, as well as Bill and Ted, as they will no doubt, go on many excellent adventures!

ETA-we were at Nelis' Dutch Village in Holland, Michigan. My kids call it Duck Village because they have wild ducks all over the place, plus a small hobby farm. If you ever need to look at a bunch of ducks- you have to go there!

We have kept quiet with some of the issues going on since Dylan was allowed to keep his ducks. Things did not stop, there have been several issues still. Simply put, there are people that still want to cause problems any way they can. Some of them and/or their friends follow this page and report back what is posted to those causing the issues. We cannot stop all of that from happening, but we are not going to sit by and let this type of activity go. Please see the post below regarding the latest issue.

The problems continue, two years after it was determined that we can keep the ducks we continue to be harassed by those that fought to remove Dylan’s ducks.

We had a visit from the DNR this afternoon, apparently someone complained about our floating dock. You know, the dock that has been there for four years, is approved by our HOA, and on the same lake where there are multiple floating docks. The complaint was that it impedes boats. The officer asked about the lake and when he found out it is not an all sports lake, he said we were fine.

The timing is what I find interesting. The DNR visits us after yet another incident earlier this week with the neighbors. This was the third time we had to call the sheriffs department so that they will just leave us alone.

Now the DNR shows up.

Coincidence? My guess is it is not.

My guess is that it was a friend or family member that called and tried to cause more problems. It didn’t work, again.

This gets old, but we will not be intimidated or harassed.

Although we are partial to ducks, we couldn’t resist helping these baby bunnies that were in some danger. A neighbors dogs discovered them and it wasn’t safe for the babies to be left (the dogs would get to them eventually) so we called animal rescue and they instructed us on how to care for them for 10 days before letting them go. We have bottle feeders and everything ready to care for them until they are big enough to be set free.

Special guests joined us for Thanksgiving! Nibbles and Bill enjoyed some corn with Dylan and his older brother. You may notice that Dylan is no longer a little boy, he has grown to be almost as tall as his older brother. One thing about him that hasn’t changed, he still loves his ducks.

Dylan with Nibbles and Bill enjoying the last days of summer before school starts. Their friends stopped by to say hello. Momma walked up quacking to Nibbles and Bill, while the little ones stayed in the water. I think they were asking if Nibbles and Bill could come play in the lake with them.
Dylan took out Nibbles and Bill to play with the babies and momma joined in. The little baby ducks are looking quite grown up now.

One year ago!! We got some relief after feeling confident at the township meeting that they would grant Dylan permission to keep his ducks. We remember that night so well. Such a relief. 🐤🐤💛💛
