Anyone recognize this dog? It was found running in the highway in Pierre part by the hang out. It has a service dog harness on. Very sweet, a local is calling Animal Control so it will most likely end up with me please DM me if you know this dog or are the owner! thanks!

Blind and deaf elderly dog went missing yesterday late afternoon and has not been seen since. Dog went missing in Pierre part off comeaux street behind PP school. If you see this dog, please contact me immediately.

❄️COLD WEATHER ALERT❄️
The entire country is experiencing freezing temps!

We suggest bringing all outdoor pets inside but we understand that is not always possible.

Just some reminders on how to care for your pets when it’s this cold out.

1. Dogs may feel more comfortable wearing a sweater when outside. BUNDLE UP!

2. Be sure to feed your pets adequately in the winter. Pets who spend significant time outdoors on walks need more to eat in the winter, since keeping warm depletes energy. Be sure their water is kept fresh. Watch for ice in water bowls.

3. Use plastic bowls instead of metal for food and water that is served outside. You don’t want your pet’s tongue getting stuck to his or her dish in icy temps!

4. Keep your pet’s feet clean. Salt and other chemicals used to melt snow and ice can irritate paw pads – and may even be harmful if ingested. Wipe feet with a damp towel before your dog or cat gets the chance to lick them!

5. Make your doghouse comfortable. If your dog does happen to live outside in a doghouse, be sure it’s dry and draft-free, and has ample space for the pup to sit and lie down comfortably. The floor should be raised a few inches off the ground and covered with cedar shavings or straw. The doorway should be covered, and the house should be turned to face away from the wind.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

An amazing rescue last night. Teamwork!

Last night someone tossed this pair of German Shepherds out in Bayou Crab. The female is emaciated and could barely stand up. The male stayed by her side, protecting her and would not let us get ahold of him.

Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office K9 unit (of course 🙂 ) showed up and got the female leashed. Then our new animal control unit showed up. When we realized that the male was not having any of it, a plan was put together.

Creating a "wall," one of my employees walked the female, while animal control and the K9 officer followed behind thus keeping the male from running past them. I followed in my vehicle to give them light because at night, Bayou Crab is DARK!

Suddenly the male darted off to the side and fell into the water and that's when one of the officers looped him with a catch pole and then we transferred him to a leash.

From there we walked them down to one of our locations here in Assumption Parish (we are assuming that's why they got dumped in Bayou Crab...because it's close to one of our locations) and then got them into a kennel, watered and fed.

Great job everybody!! And great things coming for the animals of Assumption Parish!

VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED

We need your help. We have some new volunteer positions available that would be a huge help to the animals of Assumption Parish. We can no longer handle the amount of calls for help that come in and that's where you come in!

The first thing we need help with is someone to return all the phone calls and organize the needs of what these callers need. We currently have many calls waiting to be answered and as most of you know, we also run our main rescue; Villalobos Rescue Center aka Pit Bulls & Parolees. So it's become next to impossible for me to single-handedly return all these calls on my own.

The second thing we need is community outreach reps for each area of Assumption Parish. These people would deliver supplies to those animal families in need, do welfare checks on those that we get calls on, and basically be that person in your community to help ensure that all of the companion animals in Assumption Parish are living the best life that we can all provide.

Remember, it takes a village! Please help us make Assumption Parish a great place for all animals.

THERE'S A MONSTER AMONG US

Yesterday while many were out enjoying the great weather, we were here....helping this good Samaritan who came upon this scene while out on his 4-wheeler.

These pups did not "wander off" and end up way out in this cane field. Someone purposely drove way up on Hwy 400 toward Bayou Crab and dumped them. This area is now becoming a common dumping ground for unwanted dogs and cats.

And what a heartbreaking scene it was. The black pup was curled up next to his dead sibling's/friend's body, seeking comfort. And as graphic and heartwrenching as this video is, everyone needs to take a good look.

This is not an Assumption Parish problem. This is not a Louisiana problem. THIS IS A HUMAN PROBLEM. If you recognize these pups, please contact us and we will do everything possible to bring animal cruelty charges to the "owners".

Would you want these people for your neighbors? Something to think about.

Found in Belle rose on Hwy 308 soaking wet, possibly from swimming in Bayou Lafourche. They do have collars on but no tags.

THE DOGS OF ASSUMPTION PARISH ARE GOING TO HAVE FULL BELLIES!

Once again "thank you" to our Fairy Dogfather who just had 600 bags of dog food delivered. The Assumption Parish Animal Care Center Co-op will be open soon!

FOR THE ANIMALS OF ASSUMPTION PARISH!

We are over the moon about this amazing donation that was just delivered. Our "Fairy Dogfather" had this brand new mobile spay/neuter clinic donated to us.

Once we are able to hire the necessary staff to run this program, we will start offering FREE spaying & neutering for all the dogs and cats of Assumption Parish.

Additionally, we are setting up an Assumption Animal Care Center Co-Op here in the town of Napoleonville, where those who are going through hard times, can come and get supplies and food for their companion animals.

So stay tuned as this program will be ready to roll out in the next couple of months!

Does this dog belong to anyone? Found on Hwy 1 near Spur 70. Very sweet, a little skittish. Very healthy looking, young female.

We are keeping her safe for now, but would love to reunite her with her family.

😢 DEAD DOG ON 70 SPUR IN FRONT OF ROUSES

If you are missing your male dog, black/tan, grey collar, he is dead. He got hit by a car and we picked up his body and will take him to the vet so he is not left on the road like trash.
