Benji sadly passed away yesterday. He was a rescue dog, a therapy dog, running buddy, and beloved member of the family. The house seems very empty without his gentle presence.
Benji is a gentle collie cross, approx. 11 years old. He has now retired from Pets As Therapy.

Benji came to us as a rescue dog in August 2015, adopted from ProDogs Direct, London. We suspect he was an unwanted farm sheep dog, but he showed some signs of abuse and neglect. As he had never lived in a house before, he had to adapt to doors, laminate floors, stairs, etc. During his first 6 months with us, we noticed how calm he always was and how gentle with children, including the boisterous ones we met on our walks at the park. This gave me the idea that he might be suited to being a therapy dog, and I proceeded to contact Pets As Therapy. He successfully passed his test and was promptly set to work at a local residential care facility for the elderly, where he has been quite popular. From zero to hero, Benji has overcome whatever terrible past he may have had and now helps others.
