I absolutely love the "look" and way this Jungle carpet python is developing so far. This one hatched around the 4th of July last summer from an outstanding Schuett/Lazik pairing. I actually have a clutch cooking from repeating the pairing this season.

Jungle carpet python starting to gain nice color after only a few sheds, produced from outstanding parents and lineage. Looks like she's on her way to not disappoint.

I made a post early this morning using a photo that was not as recent of a female JCP because I hadn't had an opportunity to take updated pics lately. I finally had a chance this evening....
This girl is in the midst of her ontogenetic color change and looks to be headed to a more rich clean vibrant yellow color versus the lighter lemon/mellow shade. She looks outstanding. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to know more and possibly look at her in person.

A hatchling Jungle carpet python literally just out of the egg. This specific clutch was one I've been looking forward to for awhile, not just because of the appearance of the parents, but their lineage as well. I tried to get a clutch last year for the first time and the results were not good. Only a few developed full term and even hatched, but they were weak and all perished. This year and my second attempt was the complete opposite, thankfully, one of my largest Jungle clutches with 100% hatch rate. The hatchlings are all active, robust, and truly look amazing!

A male zebra jungle from last season. Tough to get a good look at his pattern in this pic, but it's pretty chaotic with that "ocelot" look which is why I deal with his antics regularly. He hates the world.😁

Every year, it's almost always the West Papuan/IJ carpets to hatch first with everything else to follow. Not this year, this JCP clutch hatched the last week of May. Here's a few random hatchlings from the clutch, the first one is after first shed while the others still hadn't when photographed.

Quite a few carpet python clutches hatching this week. Here's a few West Papaun/IJ carpets hatching a few days ago. Not the best photos, but you can easily see the egg tooth still on the one in the first pic. F3's again this season.

A female JCP that hatched on 4th of July this past season, the second clutch I've had hatch on the holiday.....first was a Coastal clutch. This one had a dark gold hatchling pattern and black that was spot on out of the egg. After the last few sheds, that gold pattern is giving way to yellow as it's starting it's ontogenetic color change. Typically, it seems the offspring from this lineage that hatches with a darker gold hatchling pattern always develops a rich vibrant yellow color and not the more "lemon" yellow, which I tend to prefer personally. No doubt that's the direction this one is headed, and it was produced from a repeat pairing that had produced some of my best looking offspring to date. This is actually the first photos I've taken of this one, finally making an effort to let someone else enjoy.

First clutch for this '16 female JCP.....18 healthy fertile eggs, no slugs. This was the first year I decided to pair her with a male.

My yearly "first to pip" post....but, that's actually the 2nd to pip as you can look closely and see there's one already out under the grid that I missed because I wasn't expecting them to hatch for a few more days. Can't ask for a better "snake" day... I found a JCP clutch first, then literally walked over to the incubator and noticed eggs unexpectedly hatching as well.🙂
