*Long post, but please stick around for it*

So often you will see your local rescues pleading for fosters because the volume of animals in need is so great. In 2024, the number of surrender requests & feral/stray assistance forms we received is astounding.

A foster based rescue has its benefits - cats are dispersed amongst numerous foster volunteers in the comfort of a home environment with one on one socialization. We learn their interactions with children, dogs & even other cats. Fostering is wonderful & rewarding in so many ways.

Our rescue is a 100% volunteer organization which means, no one gets paid for the work we do. We take time to screen applications, facilitate veterinary appointments, coordinate fundraising events & all the other tasks for daily operations. In many cases, we chose to allocate our spare time towards our cats instead of spending it with family or leisure. And we wouldn’t have it any other way - that’s what makes our group so strong. However, burn out is real & our routine fosters need help and some reprieve. It has been NON STOP.

When we post that we need fosters, we REALLY need them. The cats REALLY need them. This person in question, had wonderful references and appeared to be eager to help our cause. Unfortunately, we were deceived. Volunteers screened her application, conducted a home inspection, drafted a foster contract, and hand delivered supplies to her. After meeting her, our calls & text messages were ignored. We asked her to do the right thing and return the supplies so another cat in need could use them. She ghosted us.

She not only stole supplies from a non profit organization, she failed a cat that needed her. A cat that was waiting for her to take him into her home. So she ghosted him too.

If you are serious about fostering, please apply. The need is greater than ever and we can't help without fosters. We need trustworthy people who can commit. Even if it's just once, you can save the life of a single cat. Even if you've never fostered, we will guide you every step of the way. It cost you nothing but would mean everything to the ones you help.

Jack is a brave & outgoing 1 year old male who was rescued from a hoarding situation.

He can be a bit reserved at first but once he is comfortable he is extremely affectionate & playful.

Jack does well with other cats, a home without children is best for him.

Adoption applications can be found on our website, www.achanceforlove.org.

Our old lady Myrtle needs your help!

Last night Myrtle was not feeling well & had bloody diarrhea with a 104 degree fever. Her belly was VERY uncomfortable.

She’s currently with her veterinary team for observation & having a plethora of tests run.

Please send her good vibes & donate towards her care if you’re able. 🖤

Chevy has watched many of his fellow café friends come and go and he is feeling a little sad that nobody has chosen to adopt him yet.😢

Chevy has so much to offer, and the staff adores him. 🥰 His social awkwardness is perhaps his most endearing quality, but it makes him a little hard to get to know. So we will tell you what he can’t! He’s 4 years old and is affectionate and playful. He’s friendly in a quirky kind of way which defines his charming personality. All he wants is a forever family to love him and he will return the love in spades. He gets along selectively with other cats and also wouldn’t mind being your one and only. 🤍🖤

If you visited All the Single Kitties within the past year, you may remember a really shy guy named Tiger.

Tiger was rescued in May of 2023 from a heartbreaking hoarding case in Hartford, where 30+ cats were left behind after a building was sold. We took in 14 of the cats, all of them half bald from fleas & souls crushed from neglect. Tiger never fully came around to trust people so he was continuously overlooked for over a year.

Our volunteer Jennifer fell in love with Tiger & decided to take him home so that he could have a family of his own & safety of a quiet place where he could be himself. Jennifer didn’t care if Tiger wanted to hide forever, she just wanted him to feel love & provide him with the comfort he missed out on when he was languishing in that abandoned house for God knows how long.

To everyone’s surprise, after a few weeks of initial hiding & decompression, Tiger was a cat that was unrecognizable. He learned how to “cat!” He let his guard down & became extremely social. He is more relaxed & isn’t looking for the next hiding place - he’s out in the open, belly up, sprawled out in his favorite spot - the couch!

Please don’t let the initial impression of a shy cat steer you away. Many times a shelter environment can be overstimulating & stressful. All any cat wants is a family of their own & unconditional love. When you adopt a shy cat, the reward in return is so great. You watch them transform.

There is no greater trust than the trust of a cat.

Thank you, Jennifer! 🧡

Our sweet boy Sylvester has his dental today with a veterinary dentist. He is having the rest of his remaining teeth removed & making sure the problem areas don’t have any root left over from his previous procedure.

The estimate for his care is steep but it’s worth every penny for our boy to live comfortably. If you’ve met Sylvester, you know despite his medical conditions he’s the most loving, docile boy in the world.

Please consider a donation towards his care.

Adopt me…but before you take me home:

🐾 I am not the “til life got busy” cat
🐾 I am not the “til you move” cat
🐾 I am not the “til you get another pet” cat
🐾 I am not the “til you have children” cat

Cats are not disposable, and they deserve a loving and forever home. They are lifelong companions who will bring joy, love, and companionship for many years to come. When you bring a cat in to your life, you are making a long-term commitment. Cats require time, attention, and financial resources. By adopting a cat, you are making a difference in their lives and giving them a second chance for a better life. Remember, they are not just temporary companions; they become part of your family. 🏡🐾❤️

Seeking an IMMEDIATE foster for this sweet boy that showed up to our feral colony. He has not been accepted by the colony (and is way too friendly) - there is a competition for food.

Veterinary care & supplies are provided by the rescue. We need fosters to continue our lifesaving work. Even if you foster just once, you make a world of a difference in the life of the cat.

Lux was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition that effects the cerebellum part of the brain that controls coordination, balance & motor skills.

When she met her family, it was a perfect match. They researched her condition to ensure she was given the best quality of life possible - the pictures speak for themselves!

“Hello. Just wanted to let you know that Lux is doing really well with us. She was a little shy at first but she's definitely come out of her shell. She's super playful and affectionate. We couldn't be happier to have her in our lives! We went to the vets last week and they said she was in perfect health. Thanks for everything! - Patrick and Katie”

When you adopt a special needs kitty, you look beyond the disability & see the ability. ❤️
