Originally, I'm from Lima, Peru, but Amsterdam stole my heart one day and I moved here in 2009. After settling in, I started looking for possibilities to work with and for animals, which is what I always dreamt of doing, but now in the city I love.
De Poezenboot (the Cat Boat), the well-known floating shelter in the canals of Amsterdam, opened their doors to me in 2011 and I was a volunteer there for more than eight years. It was my first experience working with cats, and nothing I had ever done before that has been as interesting and rewarding! From day one, my wish to learn more about these amazing beings and better care for them only grew. With that in mind, I decided to go back to school and become a cat expert. I obtained my diploma as keeper of dogs and cats, which legally allows me to manage a charity or business involving these two species in the Netherlands, and from then on I haven't stopped training myself, inside and outside the classroom... anything and everything to be a better animal caretaker.
Other professional and volunteering opportunities have come my way in all these years and in 2018 I enrolled myself in a training program to become a professional cat sitter, which now I proudly also am. My job is not just to feed cats or cuddle with them, I have an eye for medical and behavioural issues and I will happily work together with my human clients and make suggestions to improve the lives of their feline companions. My objective is that, after every visit, the cat is happier, in a healthier state of mind and home environment, that all their needs are met with love and respect for the species, and to build on that on the following visits. I am not just the person who takes care of your cat while you are away, but their ally and advocate, too, and I now train other cat sitters to follow the same concept and philosophy.
I am passionate about improving the quality of life of cats in particular, but of animals in general. My ultimate goal is to pass on my experience and knowledge to other volunteers and carers, not only in the country I now call home but, most importantly, in my country of origin, where the living conditions for animals are less than ideal and so much can be done in the field of animal welfare. I keep on working towards that.
In the meantime, I learn every day from every single cat I meet, and I share this with my friends and colleagues around the world... and everything is test-ran with my two feline beauties at home, Muis and Mauw.

Experta en cuidado felino
Originalmente, soy de Lima, Perú, pero Amsterdam me robó el corazón un día y me mudé aquí en el año 2009. Luego de establecerme, comencé a buscar posibilidades de trabajo con animales, que es lo que siempre soñé hacer, pero ahora en la ciudad de mis amores.
De Poezenboot (The Cat Boat), el conocido refugio flotante en los canales de Amsterdam, me abrió sus puertas en el 2011 y fui voluntaria allí durante más de ocho años. Fue mi primera experiencia trabajando con gatos, y nada de lo que había hecho hasta ese momento había sido tan interesante o gratificante. Desde el primer día, mi deseo de aprender más sobre estos increíbles seres y de cómo cuidarlos mejor solo creció. Con eso en mente, fui de vuelta a la escuela para convertirme en experta en felinos. Obtuve mi diploma como guardiana de perros y gatos, lo que legalmente me permite administrar una organización benéfica o comercial que involucre a estas dos especies en los Países Bajos, y desde entonces no he dejado de entrenarme, dentro y fuera del aula... lo que sea necesario para ser una mejor cuidadora.
Otras oportunidades profesionales y de voluntariado se han ido sucediendo en todos estos años y en el 2018 decidí inscribirme en un programa de entrenamiento para convertirme en cat sitter profesional, que ahora, orgullosamente, también soy.
Mi trabajo no es solo alimentar gatos o hacerles cariño, estoy capacitada para detectar problemas médicos y de comportamiento. Con mucho gusto trabajo junto con mis clientes humanos para superarlos y doy sugerencias para mejorar la vida de sus compañeros felinos. Mi objetivo es que, después de cada visita, el gato esté cada más feliz, en un estado mental y un ambiente más saludables, que todas sus necesidades se satisfagan con amor y respeto por la especie, y que esto progrese en las visitas subsiguientes. No solo soy la persona que cuida de tu gato mientras estás fuera, sino también su aliada y defensora, y ahora también capacito a otros cat sitters para que sigan el mismo concepto y filosofía.
Me apasiona mejorar la calidad de vida de los gatos en particular, pero de los animales en general. Mi objetivo es transmitir mi experiencia y conocimiento a otros voluntarios y cuidadores, no solo en el país que ahora llamo hogar sino, aún más importante, en mi país de origen, donde las condiciones de vida de los animales son menos que ideales y mucho se puede hacer en el campo de su bienestar. Sigo trabajando para lograr esto.
Mientras tanto, aprendo todos los días de cada gato que conozco, y lo comparto con mis amigos y colegas de todo el mundo... y todo es puesto a prueba en casa con mis dos bellezas felinas, Muis y Mauw.
